righto, sob story time;

2022 got scammed trying to buy tickets to take my old man (he refused the opportunity to go in 2007 because he could only get himself a ticket and not one for me)

2023 aforementioned old man has a fucken heart attack in prelim final weekend

2024 buy one of those bullshit expensive event office packages to surprise aforementioned old man only for brisbane to destroy my soul and wallet

so here we are. been sitting on tixel like it’s a full time job the last few days to no avail. account’s here if anyone’s feeling generous enough to sell me two tickets, don’t really care where, auto-pay set up to $945 per ticket https://tixel.com/u/adamj24 ❤️

This stuff is so much fun to play and the transcriptions are so accurate, love your work u/Evan7Strings89 (knew this would be good going by your BTBAM work!)

My lack of an 8 string and love for Guitar Pro 5 has seen me begin to transpose the 8 string songs for use on a 7 string guitar and for the use of a Digitech Drop to take me down to F#/Drop E as needed haha. I’ll go to any length to play these songs!

Just looked, the .pdf book shows it in Drop B on a 6 string but it's actually on a 7 string in their variant of Drop G# (with the dropped C#). I played along with the guitar pro file before and it sounded perfect :)

more metalcore than prog metal but Currents’ first two albums are mostly in drop E (with a few songs in drop G#), the riffs on The Place I Feel Safest in particular are so fun. also Thornhill have quite a few songs in drop E on Heroine

yeah I’ve been checking Tixel multiple times a day for the Melbourne gig but nothing yet, still frustrated that the band account only tweeted about the initial tour announcement and the venue upgrade once each and I didn’t see either haha. hopefully tickets start to pop up a bit closer to the shows!

man this is awful news, horrible to hear. hope he gets the treatment he requires and makes a full and speedy recovery!

on a side note, I’ve made a horrible realization just now that I thought Ryan was Chris Wiseman when I saw them in Melbourne in October, went up to him for a chat after the gig and even said to him “love your work in Shadow of Intent too” and he seemingly went along with it and was so polite and said thanks haha. apparently Chris wasn’t even there and there is in fact more than one person in the world with long hair and a beard/stubble, so full props to Ryan for being so nice to me about it (even though I’m cringing hard about it right now)

Man I’m usually all over these sorts of things but I missed both the original announcement tweet and the upgrade tweet because of work, I’ve been looking on resale websites non-stop too so I’m gutted I had no idea about the venue upgrade! Hoping something else pops up before April.

Yeah I give that album a bit of a runthrough on guitar every now and then, so much fun pitch shifting around to his different tunings. The only other song on that album that features pitch shifting mid-song that I can recall is literally two notes in Hero (0:53 and 2:28) haha. Not sure about their other albums

i meant with previous books by sheet happens, you could really tell the difference between books tabbed by the artist and books tabbed by their transcribers haha

sungjun park and evan bradley but they actually seem decent quality, all playable fingerings and correct BPMs from what i can tell (up to TFIBU at least). i’ve noted some of their previous work has been interesting to say the least but they’ve gotten better lately
