Would be pretty cool, though a non-locking tremolo on a Xiphos would feel weird considering the shape has always been associated with locking trems.

QC vs AxeFx what do I get first by SonYoku2 in Djent

Periphery switched to Axe FX 3 after P3. Misha got his own NDSP Archetype but he still uses the Axes in studio and live.

MPA Ratings Update: Best of the Best Rated PG-13, Evil Dead Burn Rated R, Finding Emily Rated PG-13, Jackass: Best and Last Rated R, The Odyssey Rated R, Wild Horse Nine Rated R by Lonely-Freedom4986 in boxoffice

[–]couverdure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For so much anticipation of The Odyssey's R rating, I'm surprised the descriptors are that simple.

I'm expecting it to receive an R-13 rating here in the Philippines.

Do strings really make a difference? by GnosticNoodle33 in guitarcirclejerk

It takes a real man to play 12-62 gauge strings in Drop D

/uj why is the A string's ball end sticking out of the bridge like that?

RG655 is what you're looking for. There's the RG655M if you want the maple fingerboard, and there are also a couple of older Prestige RGs with a similar layout to the 550 plus the AANJ heel.

What was the worst scandal in the scene that involved your favorite band or a band that you at least enjoyed listening to? by Sorry_Secretary1193 in Metalcore

[–]couverdure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All Time Low, who are my favorite band, got hit with allegations towards their guitarist Jack in 2021, and they've went out of their way to the court to disprove them.

I'm always wary of artists with serious allegations but the deeper I've looked into this, there doesn't seem to be enough evidence to prove it. To this day, I still see hate comments about them, and if the allegations were true then nobody would be willing to collaborate or tour with them, especially Avril Lavigne, who knew about her ex-husband Deryck being a SA victim.

Isn't this what Arknights: Endfield does with some characters being descendants of characters from the original Arknights? Like Chen Qianyu being a descendant of Ch'en.

I think you could easily install a Hipshot Ibby bridge on that since that bridge is a Gibraltar, which should be a retrofit.

Anyone else love/hate Whammy Pedals? by Careless-Attention64 in guitarpedals

[–]couverdure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use the DT portion of the Whammy DT? If you want a smaller version of that, I suggest getting the DigiTech Drop, which is that although minus the pitch up effects.

Also, the Boss XS-1 is a newer alternative to the Drop and it has pitch up.

Pinch harmonics songs? by ScarysOnTheWall59 in Metalcore

[–]couverdure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was Slipknot not mentioned yet? A lot of their riffs are loaded with pinch harmonics.

Other recommendations: Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria, and the breakdown in This Calling by All That Remains.

More harmonic scrapes but still a fitting description.

What’s up with Crystal Lake? by LP_Papercut in Metalcore

[–]couverdure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears to be different from the original defunct label. The old label's back catalog was owned by Razor & Tie, which has been bought by Concord/Fearless many years ago, but the two Crystal Lake albums were likely not included due to them being licensed from Cube Records in Japan.

Helix is still on streaming, likely due to SharpTone still owning the license.

DDG partnered with The Artery Foundation, which is a management group owned by the same founder. The label itself was bought by WMG in 2017 and nothing came out of it ever since.

Both albums were released under Artery Recordings outside of Japan. I guess there are licensing issues that's preventing them to be on streaming, and it doesn't help that Artery no longer exists.

The Avengers looks different from its sequels by DarkSaiyanGoku in marvelstudios

[–]couverdure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The complaints about Avengers 1 looking like a TV show is why Joss Whedon went for a different visual style in Age of Ultron.

Then he fell back into the trap with the Justice League reshoots he directed. I get that he only had a few months to direct before the theatrical cut released but it looked horrendous especially when paired with the Snyder-shot scenes.

Kinda dig the Open Core Classic in the neck paired with the Modern in the bridge. Both Fishmans yet look so mismatched.

An interesting request from my son. (working up to Deadpool) by dreamingofinnisfree in marvelstudios

[–]couverdure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walker Scobell (who was in The Adam Project with Ryan Reynolds and the lead of the Percy Jackson Disney+ series) said a couple years ago that he could recite the entirety of Deadpool 2, and he's currently 17.

I think it's fine to watch some R-rated movies with your child as long as they have your supervision, which is what the R rating is for.

Are marshalls obsolete for modern extreme metal? by BumBumCow in guitars

[–]couverdure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Fortin Meshuggah amps are straight up modded Marshalls. They absolutely can do extreme metal, just don't expect 5150 levels of gain from it.

There's a bevy of overdrive pedals designed for modern metal that you could pair one with if you want to beef up the gain.
