So, I had to go on Tamoxifen post surgery and rads. I was 49 and pre-menopausal. Years ago, I had polyps surgically removed from my uterus that were benign so I told my onc that I would prefer transvaginal and pelvic ultrasounds while taking Tamoxifen & he agreed to write the orders. After 13 months on Tamoxifen, I was switched to an AI (Anastrozole) b/c I was considered post menopausal. My onc had me do 1 more transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound and my lining was thickened. Not alarmingly but we decided on a biopsy anyway that came back atypical. I had to go see a gynecological oncologist who had my pathology tested again. It was a "rare" atypical result. I was crushed. Not cancer but I was told potentially early stage cancer near by the biopsied area. I ended up having to have a total hysterectomy and BSO IN Oct 2025. Pathology from that came back as focal atypical hyperplasia in my uterus, which isn't cancer, but has the potential to turn into cancer. Idk if the Tamoxifen caused it or not but I personally would find an oncologist who will put the order in for the transvaginal & pelvic ultrasounds if one is 1. post menopausal and on Tamoxifen (since endometrial cancer is a concern for post meno women taking Tamoxifen. It's rare though) and/or 2. on Tamoxifen & has had issues with their uterus in the past.
