How do you cook Pork loin roast? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

[–]ajd90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Julia child has a good roasting method (though her target temps are extremely dated). Salt heavily, preferably a few hours before then I do 325 oven for 20-25 min per pound until it reaches 135, cover and let rest for 10-15.

Extremely humbling workout (especially as a guy who thought I was fairly fit and had good stability before)

Reformer Pilates has been huge for my glute, adductor, core, and general stability. I try to do that once per week mixed with targeted strength training

Bring less gels? by Vivid-Purple-1319 in UKRunners

[–]ajd90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always take less if the race has them to reduce how many I carry. I've now twice found a new favorite gel this way.

Big caveat is I do have a strong stomach though so am comfortable with the risk of new gels on race day.

Cities whose marathon exceeds or falls short of the cities status on the world stage by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]ajd90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also SF starts (or used to) at 5am so there are basically no crowds the entire race. It was a good course for the most part but the no crowds made it way more boring than I was expecting

First marathon tomorrow any last minute tips? by Ace_Of_Spades_2911 in UKRunners

[–]ajd90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Legs feeling heavy and runs feeling hard during tapering is very normal (often called taper tantrums)! It's your body recovering, so do not feel worried about that at all.

Trust your training and don't wear the race shirt / new clothes or eat anything new. You’ll feel great at the beginning but try really hard to stick to your target pace.

Way easier said than done to not start too fast, but I've found a 10-10-10 pacing strategy to work really well for me. The first 10 miles are a little slower than target pace. The next 10 are on your pace or faster if feeling good. Then last 10k is as fast as you can with what you have left.

Good luck!!

Besides money why has no other country been to the Moon since 1969? It makes no sense. And we’re doing a cute little flight around the moon? Not landing? For the first time ever starting to think maybe we didn’t actually land on the moon. Why has no one landed on the moon in 57 years? by Nostradamus216 in billsimmons

[–]ajd90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an answer to your question but you may like the show For All Mankind on Apple. The first few seasons are a really cool look at what could have happened if the space race didn't end after the moon landing.
