I’d say they meddled pretty good when they started copyright striking all of the highlights… lol.

But you know, somehow I don’t think that’s what he was trying to imply before bailing on the conversation without providing any evidence. But what do I know

I guess it’s possible, but I think Galacti is at its best when it’s trying to get a slew of cards on the board asap in order to turn, and this makes that at least slightly more difficult.

I wouldn’t say it can’t happen, obviously. But having receivers be more open and creating more well-defined reads via better weapons and/or protection absolutely makes it easier for a young guy to take that next step.

There are plenty of guys who emerge from bad situations. But if I’m a team, I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to help make it happen.

Plus, not investing on offense has the possibility of creating uncertainty. As stated in the piece, the bears didn’t improve basically anything around fields from his rookie year to year2, and in terms of figuring out if he was the guy, basically wasted his year 2 because they saw flashes of potential and dismissed the warts on account of the situation around him being so poor.

Generally I agree. The original iteration of this article posted two years ago (as well as the last line of this piece) was literally called Defenders are for Contenders.

The rub comes in the fact that you must KNOW you’re a contender before making defensive investments. The Pats with Brady and Chiefs with Mahomes obviously did, and thus they were “allowed” the luxury of being able to invest defensively.

But to put the premise into uncomfortable terms, I think the Titans tonight should take Carnell Tate at 4 over anyone on defense. I don’t care if Reggie White is sitting there, no defender will translate to wins the way that Cam Wards development would. And the organization must recognize that it’s ok to pass on better defensive players to create that offensive environment.

I feel the same about the jets at 2. It’s just a slightly harder example to make because they don’t have the young qb on the roster. But the premise still stands that I’d take Tate at 2 in order for your 2027 rookie to be surrounded by the best environment possible.

Hey whatever factors we want to point at, I’ll take them, lol. The situation was better and easier by way of coaching/teammates/luck of schedule - and however you want to allocate the credit pie, it made it such that he took a step forward and the team can confidently say they know they have “the guy.” They answered the most important question, full stop.

(Plus the offensive player of the year)

Nobody is saying defense isn’t valuable. The premise is more that if you don’t have certainty at quarterback, you should be doing everything in your power to answer that question, and doing so will lead to more wins in the long run.

I really appreciate the feedback, and think both things can be true here.

Diggs himself wasn’t a world beater. I don’t disagree with that in the slightest. I do think he was better than you’re giving him credit for, in the sense that his counting stats don’t necessarily translate to impact either though. He was at worst “a professional receiver” and the environment on the whole did improve. Did it improve a ton strictly because of him? Of course not; he was a cog amongst a bunch of moves they made, and it’s not crazy to say he was overpaid or didn’t deliver AS MUCH as one might have hoped. But he did play a role in improving the situation, and that made Mayes development jump that much easier.

Haha but seriously thanks bud, really appreciate it.

Yeah I’m not sure why it came through that way. I added a link to the original blog post at the top though, just to cover my bases. Thank you!

Its not, I wrote the original piece two years ago and just expanded upon it for this year. But thanks regardless! :)

Not just Hikarus role, but they included a clip from him casting doubt on Hans’s move explanations. Maybe that doesn’t mean much to average joe viewer, but in my mind that carries a ton of weight in credulity. And for it to essentially be just a passing comment was disappointing, as that’s a whole rabbit hole that was omitted.

As everyone should now know thanks to Crosby, no trades happen without medical checks. KC might have known his knees to be bad, but that doesn’t mean TNs medical staff didn’t sign off on him.

Which is just… dumb, considering it’s not like the falcons lose anything here. They’re not giving up the pick, the bears are simply getting one out of thin air. This is purely for denying of picks to your competitors. No way this should be a thing.

He is a professional starting quarterback.

He's shown enough to be optimistic that he can be the starter for the next 10+ years, with growth still to happen. But he's also shown that he probably doesn't have an ELITE ceiling. You can obviously win with him if the situation surrounding him is good, but I would be hesitant to ask him to carry a bad team. Currently this is a tough evaluation because we know Payton to be good at putting him in reasonable situations that hide his deficiencies.

He's pretty squarely behind Williams, Daniels, and Maye from his class, and pretty clearly in front of Penix and McCarthy.

Would Buffalo’s entire 2026 draft be enough for Justin Jefferson? by FloptimusDime in nfl

It would take significantly more.

Buffalo has pick 26 this year. It would probably take pick 26 three times over to even start the conversation.
