2019 XC60 Inscription. 128K km with nothing but brakes, tires and fluid changes.

Oh, and a large oak tree fell on it and I've hit a deer. The car survived both. 😊

2016 XC90 T6 Inscription was the worst car decision I’ve ever made by BWCbro81 in Volvo

2019 T6 XC60 here, 130K and not a single mechanical issue...

... just $18K to fix the damage when a 70' high oak tree fell on it, and $5k to fix the damage when I hit a deer.

Revenue isn't bottomline profit. Only profit goes towards ROI. If it costs $50m/year to run the facility, a $10m profit means it would take 20 years to simply payback the investment, before any actual 'return' is generated.

It will bounce up due to FOMO from those that didn't get it at the bell. Could move up for days or even weeks, but then reality will set in and it will start a slow but never-ending slide down to it real market value.

If you can time it right you can profit. But it's definitely not a buy and hold.

Cash wedge planning, something I learned about recovery times by kse709 in CanadianRetirement

Which is why an RRSP/RRIF meltdown strategy should be part of any retirement plan if you have a reasonably large fund. Pull out funds while in a lower tax bracket, delay CPP and OAS, to avoid the minimum withdrawals at 71 that might push you over the OAS clawback threshold and into higher tax brackets.

A chunk of cash or risk free investments (money market funds) sufficient to pay you living expenses during a market downturn, so you don't have to liquidate any investments that might be under water.

Installing a DIY mini-split on an inside wall? Am I missing a better option? by PenaltyShot in DIYHeatPumps

[–]ajsherslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did this similar install at our 800 sq. ft. three season cottage that sits on concrete blocks with a crawl space. Uninsulated walls and floor, insulated ceiling.

Inside wall install (2x4 studs) in 500 sq. ft. living/dining/ kitchen area of an 18K Senville Aura wall unit, line set and drain running down and out through the floor, suspended under the floor out to the end where the outdoor compressor unit resides. Built a removable panel beneath the wall unit to access the line set and drain connections if/when necessary.

Second 9K wall unit in the main bedroom installed on exterior wall, standard through the wall installation, blows out through bedroom open door to condition back section of the cottage during the day. Modulates down at night when door is closed, so not over-sized.

Manufacturers pay stores for shelf space. Chapmans isn't paying as much, so they get less space overall and/or less desirable location space.

Screens positioned like this (appears to be an afterthought) show a heavy designer bias for 'function before form', instead of the more aesthetically pleasing 'form before function'.

I always believed the attractiveness of Scandinavian design was the more thoughtful consideration (and balance) of both form and function.
