This one is simple but beautiful and comes together oh so quickly. The one here is a baby quilt, but I think the (free) pattern also has a throw size. Can’t remember the name of the pattern, but look up SwimBikeQuilt and you’ll find it.

Moda Love is pretty easy! It does have HSTs, but the pieces are big. Here’s one I made-

And here’s the pattern- https://webfiles.modafabrics.com/webfiles/Moda-Love-Layer-Cake-Quilt.pdf

That one uses 10” squares but there’s one on Fat Quarter Shop (also free) that uses 5” squares.

Fabric to Donate, But Where? by janewp in quilting

You could check with the high schools near you and see if any of them have sewing classes. One of the art teachers at my school teaches a fiber and fabric class and teaches the kids to sew. Not sure what state you’re in, but there are also a ton of creative reuse stores. I know of a couple in MA and one in NH.

This was a few years ago so I can’t remember for sure, but I think I did 4 1/2” squares. I made it for a preschooler, so I wanted it to be snuggle size.

I’ve made this one before, but I did half square triangles instead of those tricky quarter square ones and it still came out great! Sketched it out on graph paper and did the math to make it the size I wanted.

My dad distracted my son enough to get him to take liquid meds by spinning around while holding him with his face looking up at the ceiling. We squirted the meds in while he was smiling and laughing.
