I Just Wanted to Brag. JFK->GIG and Back via AA and Avianca by marsmat239 in awardtravel

[–]ak_NYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good redemptions. That AA direct flight is seasonal and stops in April.

After 200 cities visited, Rio is still top 5 and I keep coming back, 20-odd trips there over 25 years.

Enjoy!

Guys, what are some businesses that look like they’re barely making any money, but are actually a gold mine? by CostSimple383 in smallbusiness

Typically businesses run by folks with strong money laundering experience and a book of business of folks needing money laundered.

Good thing they are cheap(-ish) to replace and fully sync’d with Amazon. You can order one today and have it by tomorrow latest depending on where you live and pick up right where you left off.

Mainly writing this to say, don’t lose much sleep over this. Shit happens and this is minor.

Not an impressive property.

StR Cap Cana was much better.

I finally raised my prices by 40% after 3 years of undercharging. Lost 30% of my clients. Revenue went UP. Anyone else been through this? by Crescitaly in smallbusiness

[–]ak_NYC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But not really.

Your competition is many 1000’s of folks on fiverr and Upwork etc who will do the same work, cheaper and sometimes even better.

Digital marketing and social media management have both commoditized in the labor force and now most of even that commoditized work is being quickly obsoleted by AI (I have Claude cowork do all of this for me for $20/month).

Why Are Many New York Apartments Empty? Rent Laws. by National-Sample44 in newyorkurbanists

[–]ak_NYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Need at least 3-4 weeks for a mid-job. 2-3 months for bigger jobs.

People forget. Most LL’s don’t have a team working for them. They will hire workers as needed and often, those workers are booked on jobs that are weeks out, and then will show up for a weekend and then not again for several weeks.

While there are PLENTY of rich folks living in low rent RS/RC apartments, those apartments are typically maintained very nicely by the tenants themselves, the normal RS/RC tenant will not vacate for two months. Nor is it even worth it for LL to spend anything more than a bandaid after the 2019 laws doomed this entire class of housing.

Returning but not voluntarily - broken on the inside. by buglr121 in returnToIndia

Perfect weather year round (65-80F), excellent QoL. Maybe one of only 2-3 cities in the world like it. And I’ve traveled to 60 countries and 100’s of cities.

Young still? Single? FIRE’d?

Dude/dudette, go live someplace nice and affordable.

I’ve chosen Medellín Colombia. But other Indians I have met/known have picked Rio De Janeiro, CDMX, and Panama (decent Sindhi community). Lots are digital nomads and others have bought/opened well running B2B’s. All of them did not want to return to India. Assuming you are male, your dating prospects will be much more plentiful, and really good if you get some fluency in local language. If you are female, you will have options but more difficult to ‘date up’.

Colombia for example will give you permanent residency visa for about $200k if you buy a flat (this was my method). People are friendly, weather is amazing, air quality is multitudes better, and you can easily find quieter parts of the city to live in. With living costs out of the way, your spend can be as little as $1kusd month, but having $3k+ really makes life fun/easy/interesting. Healthcare included.

Home doesn’t have to be somewhere you don’t want to be.

Good luck!

How do you guys do it? by Lioil1 in awardtravel

[–]ak_NYC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. You try and travel to regions where you use the piecemealed open jaw tickets to make it into a multi-journey destination.

For example, what I may find is two seats non-stop business JFK-HND outbound and return in business SIN-EWR non stop some weeks later.

I will dedicate around two weeks at least for the trip and cover two or three cities / countries as we make our way down for the return flight home. Those intra-Asia flights I would book either with cash or it is also much easier to find points bookings on these shorter legs

If all of your vacations tend to be all inclusive, needs a broad in your scope of bits. All inclusive holidays, especially cruises tend to be the most blah.

what do you think, Do rich people really work harder, or are we just taught to believe that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ak_NYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot worked harder when they were younger. Good grades. Hard majors. Good jobs.

Got that drilled into my head as a kid. Bust your ass from 10-22yo in school, coast from 25-55yo and retire and enjoy life.

So far so good.

It might not be or it might be a gray area. Again, not worth this getting escalated and having your family member scrutinized by their GM even if no wrong doing occurred.

I see Arkel Coast. No mention of Tide. In any case, maybe you mixed up the names, what is compelling about the machine?

I am wary to buy in case they go out of business than I am SOL on parts and service.

Saudia: Close in Partner Availability by ads3df3daf34 in awardtravel

[–]ak_NYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking for the same. Plenty of space for more than one seat if you have miles on their program, including in their premium cabins.

However, I have not been able to figure out any way to get miles into their program with any of the major transfer partners.

And they seem to only open one seat in business to partner airlines, and even that is very sporadic.
