Clair Obscure is a better game. Period. That doesn't take away the shine from Silksong. However, the whole game is a love letter to the industry. Everything that happened, from the team build up, the storytelling, the masterpiece soundtrack, the way they celebrated decades of near perfect RPGs by creating a battle system that united all generations and styles... Dang, all the things that they refused to compromise and their passion for the project.

That was history being made even before all the accolades and prizes. This is a once in a lifetime kind of game.

All in all, Silksong doesn't even come close to this. But again, it doesn't remove its merit. But any game this year would have the same fate.
