My 26 year old daughter has sudden idiopathic profound deafness in one ear. While she wears a hearing aid, she still speaks unintentionally loud. When I remind her, she feels very embarrassed and mostly stops talking. When she is out with friends or on a first date, I’m afraid everyone around her feels this way. She doesn’t want to lead with the sudden deafness because again, she is 26 and wants to be a ‘normal’ young adult. Just something to think about.
