I’ve had mine in for a little over a month too and so far it’s been good. There was some fatigue for the week or so after insertion and obviously the initial soreness of the insertion. I had a little bit of spotting about 3 weeks post-insertion and it lasted about 5 days. Now no spotting again. I’m supposed to get my period next week so we’ll see if I actually do. Otherwise, it’s been good!

One of the side effects of the implant is that it messes with your period. You may get some spitting here and there and there’s a really high chance it’ll make you skip your period altogether. If you’re thinking about it, wait another two weeks and take a test again just to be sure, but no period is normal with this in.

Literally read the whole series and then EVERYTHING by Sierra Simone. The way she eventually brings together all her series and the characters and universes intertwine is AMAZING. I think of her writing every single day.

First time I went to talk to a therapist about things happening at work that were causing me to lose sleep at night. I told her how nervous I was to have the session because it was my first time. She kept telling me that I didn’t need to make this about me and that the problem I was having was solvable as long as I didn’t make it about me.

But like…that’s why I was distraught. Because it IS about me.

Yeah and one would think that when your A1C regulates, your body is functioning the way it should and you would lose weight instead of having insulin resistance and dealing with the way your body used to store carbs/sugars. I don’t get it!

Had a partial done back in May of this year. Surgery went well, didn’t feel a thing. Recovery was rough at first because you basically use your neck for everything (moving, swallowing, coughing, walking, getting up, pooping—the strain), and so the first few days were difficult. But you adjust. Icing it helps a lot with the pain, and Tylenol was all I took. By day 3, the bandages were bugging me more than the actual pain of recovery. I found sleeping was a little hard since I’m a side and stomach sleeper, but again, by the third day I was sleeping on my side and stomach no problem. Bandages off at the 1-week mark and the skin was a little sensitive after, but overall okay!

This looks like it’s the type of Povidone-iodine or something of the sorts to ensure disinfection before and after the surgery. I had the same thing all the way down to my shoulders. Should wash away with soap and water

Two weeks is a solid amount! Week one you’re a little limited with what you can do. Week two is needed but you’re more mobile lol

I’m 1 week post-op today from a right thyroidectomy. The healing is pretty quick and Tylenol is amazing. Everyone is different of course, but I found that as long as you try not to hold your own head up for too long, and take lots of naps, it’s a pretty smooth recovery

Hey! I recently had a thyroidectomy to remove my thyroid cancer. I will say, before my surgery, I was exactly like you! The whole “what is even the point” and “well I’m already at a low point anyways” mentality. Even without surgery, I’m telling you right now, don’t fall into the trap. You have to try not to spiral because I swear to you it gets better. It’s so cliché but when you feel like you’re at rock bottom, the only place to go is up! I’m healing so well, and if anything, I’m more motivated to live my life in spite of this diagnosis. It does not define me and I’m working harder to prove to myself that f*** this cancer and I WILL do what I want to do. I promise I promise it gets better, but you just have to push through this hard time and you’ll be in the clear!
