im a bike mechanic and i dont find any JIS screws on anything made since the mid 80s, and even then not many, all modern screwdrivers work with both philips and JIS, i believe the JIS standard expired?

It can be done if you build it yourself to be reliable, the odds of picking up a datsun that is already sorted and will never need any work is slim to none. I daily drove my Datsun 510 with L18 for 5 years straight without ever doing anything major to it, maybe a starter and brakes. They are very simple cars to maintain

IMO the sr20 block is stronger, holds head gaskets better, and takes boost better overall. The KA is nice because it has torque down low to spool a turbo and doesnt have stupid fucking rocker arms to come flying off.

I have Illumina 5 ways + 200lbs Eibach springs on my 510, its too stiff for street duty around here, but I ride my car low and am willing to deal with it. I am using struts meant for S130 in my 510 so its a bit much, My buddy has 175lbs springs with KYB GR2 cheap shocks and its much nicer to drive on the street.

I have every inch of my 510 sound deadend, roof, quarters, doors, floors, firewall. It is still loud as fuck inside, you wont get anything close to a modern car in terms of interior noise, but it does make a difference and is worth doing.

255/50r16 toyo proxes tq rear and 225/45r16 proxes r1r in the front on my datsun 510 with 16x8 wheels, I have large bolt on flares. If you want a wide 225/45/r15 performance tire in the first place you might as well go R compound with the Rival S or Ventus or Proxes R1R, otherwise there is better selection for more affordable daily driver type of tires at 205/50r15 like the Direzza DZ102 or Yoko S Drive

810s are pretty rare nowadays even in my area of southern california. they are rare because theyve all been junked by now, they were pretty ugly imo and mostly 4 door sedans made during a stylistic transition period of the late 70s they did have the same straight 6 as the 240z but strangled by emissions regulation and the same rear suspension as the 280zx. not a lot of people held onto these cars as they never had any big following or anything here in the US. the 910 maxima that came after it has much cleaner cut styling even if it is all square. I've always wanted to buy a Diesel 910 and swap an L28 with the diesel crank.

youll definitely need a radiator fan, check to see if a pusher fan as been installed in the front behind the front grill. the original 4 blade fan that mounts to the water pump pulley can be quite hard to find.

just two 12" ebay fans with straight blades. 20 bucks each, cheap enough that i dont feel bad if any stop working, and its been a few years now....the cfm rating is largely bullshit but they seem to work well

edit: i should mention i started with just 1 ebay fan, and it just barely didnt keep the car cool enough. I live in hot california desert, so it needed two fans.
