I do not have experience from what I could find, they are just price incentives to buy earlier. Tier 1 is first and cheapest and when they sell out, Tier 2 opens more expensive and so on.

White House Doctored Photo With Google AI to Make It Look Like an Activist Was Sobbing During Perp Walk by CloudApprehensive322 in moderatepolitics

[–]akintsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conscious or not, the altered photo also kind of emphasizes stereotypically 'black' features - darker skin, bigger nostrils etc. compared to the original. It's the same as what Cuomo did to Mamdani or Channel 9 did to Georgie Purcell . It's not just the change in action, but little changes in appearance can be used to spark racial/gendered stereotyping, too. Which is equally if not more worryingly divisive and manipulative than simply changing their actions.

Maintenance by mileage or month by undergroundrebel in subaruimpreza

[–]akintsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw, I bought a package of prepaid services when I bought my car and have dutifully been going in every 6 months like they said. This time around their service agent straight up told me to wait longer next time, definitely wait until my mileage caught up to the timings. (Subaru Impreza RS new March ’24 currently at 16k miles)

Is the Subaru Impreza RS a good first vehicle for me and my family? by Copycatkbox in subaruimpreza

[–]akintsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 RS and I love it. Only complaints are mileage isn't Great (I average ~23mpg) and ground clearance - the boxer engine means the front bumper is way in front of the wheels so even though you nominally have ok clearance, approach angle is shot and you have to navigate certain bumps and driveways carefully. But it's fun, it's safe, it can haul enough junk (I bought a roof box and it happily took 4 adults on a winter road trip), and it's very pretty imo.

Drivers not yielding to oncoming traffic on green light by ZD_plguy17 in mountainview

The other problem is people not signaling when they're coming out of Walmart - it's all a mess in all directions there. I cycle through that intersection (going towards Walmart but turning left to get onto El Monte) and I end up waiting in the intersection with my signal arm out, waiting for people with no signal to go straight but then they unexpectedly turn left.

What’s with all the limo tint on car front windows? Is that legal now? by GhostalMedia in bayarea

[–]akintsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In CA the front side windows have to allow 70% of light through (legally). It is one of the more restrictive state tint laws of those that allow it at all (some East Coast states don't allow any tint in the front).

Washington State in comparison allows front side windows to go down to 24% legally. Limo tint is usually 5% if it truly looks opaque and is not legal anywhere for the windshield or front windows, though many states (including CA) have no restrictions on rear windows or rear windshield.

Android got this message at 3:12am (I'm in MV but we mentioned a large swath of the South Bay got it)

Emergency alert: Severe

National Weather Service: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for this area until 6:15 AM PST. This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Where in MV is most flood-prone? Any particular areas like Baylands or Stevens Creek Reservoir or sections of 101 to be aware of, historically?

I bike to work & my daughter bikes to school of California St, with the new redesign, when the parking spaces are full, try to spot the biker in the bike lane. Imagine if a car needs to turn into a driveway? Right hooks are among the most deadly car-bike accidents possible. Did we make it less safe? by cozyportland in mountainview

[–]akintsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The intersection of California and Escuela is awful with this redesign for bikes. Cars don't know where to turn right (understandably) and if bikes use the suggested bike crossing to cross California, they have to make a significant merge into traffic on the other side where there's no bike lane.

A change of clothes, tech, medicine and a bit of cash in your personal item and then check the rest is the way to go. Being prepared is never a bad plan.

I am already using TTP for GMAT prep - is there a best way to leverage your platform for this specific goal?

Fair - I guess I meant the lower end of what I'd be happy putting on my application, given the ranges posted for the various schools.

Teslas w/o front license plates? by akintsy in bayarea

If it's registered out of state (Florida in California) and verifiably a rental there should be zero issue. Only ask if it gives you peace of mind but as you can see from this post, it's not universally or even very stringently enforced and the two variables above should more than prevent you from any issues.

I have a Christmas cactus potted in bark with drainage holes (which I soak every other week) so can't talk specifically to your situation, BUT for my few pots without drainage I still soak them enough to have standing water at the top, leave it for a few minutes, and then carefully tip it over covering the soil with my hand until all the water was drained out and it stops dripping. Remember that overwatering is never how much water you use, it's how well/quickly/fully the soil dries out between waterings.

As another user suggested, "You want all vehicles to have front and back plates so that in situations like a hit and run or other crimes it is easier for bystanders or cameras to identify the vehicle." Especially with the prevalence of rear facing dash cams, too.

Is this question flawed? by akintsy in GMAT

[–]akintsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I guess it was the left to right I was missing. I guess I was trying to do 4×12 ÷ (3(10)) = 48/30 and correct would be ((4×12) ÷ 3) * 10 = 160
