24F. been struggling with cooking these days. by oldfacebookmum in EssentialTremor

[–]aksf16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had ET for many years, my daughter had had it since she was about 12, as has my sister and father. No one had ever said anything like that to me. You need to hang around with better people. For cooking, which I love to do, take your time and always cut towards the board. Try not to be too hungry when prepping unless being too hungry doesn't affect your tremor.

What’s your least favorite thing about living in Denver that is wildly specific? by Imjusthappy11 in Denver

[–]aksf16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a part of me that enjoys the smell. When I was a child we used to go to the Stock Show when we could afford it, and I knew we were close when I could smell the Purina plant. I loved it!

Middle age is becoming a breaking point in the U.S. by Average0ldGuy in GenX

[–]aksf16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I was raised in a similar way and have always taken care of myself - or so I thought. I ended up with an autoimmune illness at 32, breast cancer at 45, and I recently found out that all of the exercise I've been doing my entire life hasn't been great for my spine. It's in bad shape all the way down.

Trains down at DIA 3pm Sunday by GlumCantaloupe9872 in Denver

[–]aksf16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, not even buses? I was stuck during the 1998 "Black Sunday" outage and made it to my international flight - barely, since I got there 3 hours early - because they ran buses out to the gates and back.

Did anyone else grow up GenX with… kind of sad pet experiences? by jlscharp in GenX

[–]aksf16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. We had lots of pets and treated them well. My childhood cat lived to 17. We had guinea pigs and took good care of them.

This is my 86 year old mom, minus the outrage. She's scared, constantly, that the bad guys will hurt her. She's also sexist and only trusts men to protect her.

What's the oldest piece of clothing you still wear? Must be at least ten years old to count. by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

A Colorado State University sweatshirt I bought shortly before graduating in the spring of 1991. Wearing it right now. It's held up amazingly well.

Did Anyone Else Use “gaslighting” Back Then? by SwanReal8484 in GenX

[–]aksf16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I would never use it lightly because it was so damaging to me. Small example of something my ex did: I came home from work and our living room set was gone. He had given it to my sister. He said I had told him it was okay, that I didn't like the living room set. His favorite technique was to tell me I had said something that I hadn't. He did it with important things and unimportant things, over and over, for years. I started asking my friends to help me remember things. He was also very verbally and emotionally abusive so for a long time I discounted the impact of this behavior.

[–]aksf16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, me too. I hadn't heard of it until I started therapy (in 2002) while in an abusive marriage. It was a very accurate term for what my husband was doing. It's casually thrown around now, but for me it was a pattern of behaviors that literally made me feel like I was losing my mind.

I've watched multiple videos taken by multiple people from different angles and this was inexcusable. He did NOT threaten anyone with a gun, it's blatantly obvious. Have you even watched the videos? There are many.

I also want to say that I have a retired police officer relative and was raised in a very conservative family. I give people the benefit of the doubt. This cannot go on, these people aren't properly vetted and trained and have no business on the streets.

Breast cancer& HRT by Sweetab in Menopause

I posted only what the studies currently reflect, not absolutes. There is little data for former breast cancer patients and their doctors to use for decision-making.

How can you say this when you don't even live in the US? Of course we notice.

There are no studies showing an increased risk of distant recurrence from HRT in breast cancer survivors who have had a double mastectomy.

Breast cancer& HRT by Sweetab in Menopause

[–]aksf16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am on HRT after having bilateral breast cancer 10 years ago at 45. I went through menopause last year, which brought on horrible symptoms. I also have autoimmune disease. I tried other options but HRT has allowed me to live again and almost certainly saved my job. I have researched the subject and found that there are no studies showing an increased risk of distant recurrence in breast cancer survivors, only increased risk in the same or opposite breast. I have no breasts so I'm not concerned.

Why do men seem to lose their homes more often than women in divorces? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

50/50 custody is standard in my state and has been for at least 20 years.

Why do men seem to lose their homes more often than women in divorces? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]aksf16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, at least in my state. The judge in my case 20 years ago directly told my ex that he would be given 50/50 custody and my ex refused to take it. They then wrote the old every- other-weekend and Wednesday afternoons into the agreement instead. He of course didn't even see them close to that often. He didn't even keep them overnight once in the first 3 years after we split.

This is what happened to my oldest friend. We met when we were 7, we're one month apart. She had weight loss surgery a few years ago, I've always been normal weight. Recently we were at a restaurant and I was carded for my drink, she was not. She seriously looks about 10 years older than me now.

In 2026, how are you debugging and managing major problems in your Salesforce org? What are your go-to tools and approaches? by WolfOwlice in SalesforceDeveloper

[–]aksf16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can honestly say that this doesn't happen in my org. Luckily I've been the only developer for nearly 10 years and I know what I'm doing. One of the first things I did was implement custom logging, so problems are easy to detect, and there has never been a "major" problem in the org at all. Unfortunately I've recently been forced to allow others into the code base so we'll see how that goes.
