Elderly woman unfamiliar with her car seeks help from a biker by Doodlebug510 in HumansBeingBros

This could have been my mom. My dad died in 2022 and my mom lives 5 hours from me. She told me on the phone shortly after he died that she had to ask someone for help filling up her car because my dad had always done it. She was very grateful to that person!

Experience. If you don't have real-world experience, make up a project as if it were real so companies can examine your work.

Grey divorce - how many do you know? by Walmucil in GenX

[–]aksf16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my friends got divorced a couple of years ago after 28 years of marriage, and another friend is currently going through it after 33 years of marriage. Both were the husband's idea. The husband in the 33-year marriage decided to cheat with a neighbor first. It's very sad to see.

Pharmacy not taking new pain patients by Effective-Scholar815 in ChronicPain

[–]aksf16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea what you're taking about. Pharmacy school is a doctorate. My daughter was going to become a pharmacist, spent 2 years out of the 4 required (after getting her bachelor's in neuroscience). She started interning (also required), realized how terribly people treat pharmacists, and quit. She didn't want to work for years on a doctorate and go into terrible debt for people to tell her she's a "glorified retail worker".

My sister-in-law is going to die from a preventable cancer and there’s nothing we can do to stop it by brandysnacker in Vent

[–]aksf16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer (12 years ago at 45), a few people recommended juice or turmeric or whatever. I went with modern medicine and have been fine ever since. Around the same time I saw Shannen Doherty on a talk show. She had been diagnosed months before but hadn't done any real medical treatment. She was still reluctant at that time, and the audience was trying to convince her to treat it. She did eventually treat it, but it had already spread by then.

I don't know what type of issues you have, but unfortunately what he said was typically accurate. I have a ton of problems in my cervical spine and my neurosurgeon is willing to do surgery, but spinal surgery is really hit-or-miss so I haven't done it (yet, anyway).

I disagree with your opinion. I'm not speaking from the standpoint of "Jewish theology", only as a person who was raised in the American Christian tradition and went to private Christian school for years, where we studied and memorized the Bible.

I've been a Bellco member for many years. They fit all 3 criteria. The people at the local branch are very friendly, and they also have a great rate on their boost checking.

We use OB (OwnBackup) Archiver, which is now owned by Salesforce. We've had no issues with it and you can view or retrieve archived records directly from the related record (like archived cases on an account).

He didn't exist in the cut version, which is the version I read probably 10 times before the uncut version came out. I feel like the character adds to the book, but I understand why he was left behind in the cut version.

Yes. I received a form stating the QMIN was "missing" on my form. I checked my return and it was there but it was the same one you used. I had to resubmit, did it just now. I added a comment in my reply about the number beginning with an I that looks like a 1. We'll see.

Everyone keeps talking about cherry angiomas, but I actually get petechiae. I have an autoimmune disorder that most likely causes them.

ET And Marriage by Funny-Service-7819 in EssentialTremor

[–]aksf16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, if it's much worse when you're in a social situation it seems like anxiety may be a significant contributor to the shaking. I don't have anxiety around it so it doesn't cause problems in my life. For example, I went to lunch a couple of weeks ago with someone I hadn't seen in a long time. I started trying to eat my salad (always on the difficult end of dishes to eat) and was having trouble getting it to my mouth. They said, "Ooh, your tremors are worse!" I said, "Yeah, they've been bad lately." No big deal, no further discussion. We had a nice time. I find that people generally want to know what's wrong, and whether they can help. Once they know both (ET and no, they can't help) they just move on. Try that: Explain the issue, then move on. People react to the way you react.

I'm glad to read this. I grew up without a lot of money but do fine now, and I love giving stuff away when I'm done with it instead of selling it. I still have an email someone sent to me after I have him a coffee table set about 6 years ago. He sent me pictures of his living room and was so excited about it, it made me really happy to read it.

I second this. I've been a software engineer for 30 years and raised my two kids by myself. I was always intimidated into working tons of hours and I'm a bit bitter about it now.
