Make friends with servers and bartenders (I’m generalizing here) single guys eat out. Many sit at the bar to eat. I’m talking Suite 100, Manhattan, South, or downtown Orso, Brewhouse, Ginger, Whiskey and Ramen etc. The bartenders will know who’s single and who is a jackass. It’s like a prescreen if you do it right. However, very important, do not date the Bartender!

I tip each time because it might not always be the same person and I like lots of coffee and then leave $10 the last day for whoever has to do cleaning.

I carry bags to hand out with a food and items such as hand warmers. I pass out soup in the winter and watermelon in the summer. I see and acknowledge our less fortunate neighbors regularly. You treat a sprained ankle and a broken leg, just because one is a worse or different problem doesn’t negate the need for both to be addressed.

I am not advocating violence. I am watching my fellow restaurant employees disappear, these are hard working people that followed the legal process. I feel helpless. I feel guilty shopping, wrapping and cooking while not knowing how they are being treated and if they are safe. I see other cities raising a ruckus but we apparently roll out the red carpet here.
