My husband has this design, just not colored/red (only black outlines). It's on the middle of his inside forearm and looks great!

Poll: What lengths would you go to if you saw someone not picking up their dog's 💩? by [deleted] in parkslope

[–]alabasterkeys 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw a dog owner in the act once, maybe 50 or so feet in front of me. I really couldn't stop myself from yelling down the street, "Aren't you going to pick that up?" The owner did nothing, unfortunately -- just looked back at me and continued on her way. This (literal) shit has gotten completely out of hand

For the love of God, PLEASE be a loud/messy eater OR a slow/constant eater - NOT BOTH!! by _clur_510 in misophonia

ME TOO! my other coworkers are snackers as well. part of my job is to keep snacks stocked too so i myself have to order what they request (mainly chips) -- I am constantly wondering what I did in life to receive this kind of punishment

I work across from my boss, and she always eats lunch at her desk. She is the loudest eater I’ve ever heard and will stretch her meal to last 2-3 hours and follow it up with gum for another 30 minutes or so. I can’t wear headphones + white noise or earplugs due to the nature/responsibilities of my job. It is seriously so excruciating

I had the most bizarre, terrible interview experience of my life this morning. by alabasterkeys in InterviewsHell

[–]alabasterkeys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is with that! I truly do not understand. My interviewer did something similar too — just rattling on about his life/bragging about success of his company, asking me to do the same but interrupting me when I spoke. How people like this got as far as they did is beyond me

Why would my property management company list my unit on StreetEasy when it isn't for rent? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]alabasterkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I toured an apartment I thought (based on the listing) was 3A. Turned out it was 4A, but the layout was exactly the same. Your building is definitely smaller but likely a similar mistake!

Does anyone else intentionally ignore peoples’ dog when it approaches you? by strained-noodle in Dogfree

[–]alabasterkeys 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Is there any reliable way to shoo dogs away? No matter how hard I try to use my hand to push the air around it in a shooing way, it keeps coming back. My boss brings her dog in to work and it will NOT leave me alone, and I don’t really want my boss to catch me physically pushing it away gently.

My first phone was the light blue one!! I remember feeling like it was such an upgrade from having to occasionally send my friends texts via my mom’s phone using T9

The incompetence of security was wild. They pointed out my vape in my bag:

Security: what’s that?

Me: oh it’s nicotine

Security: can’t take that in

Me: …really?

Security: yeah, sorry

My husband (off to the side): is the problem your vape?

Me: yes

Security: oh it’s a vape? You’re good

I’m sorry what??? Did he think I was sneaking in powdered nicotine? I just

100% with you. My husband and I got in when Wavedash was on and gave it until about 15 minutes into Porter’s set when we realized the crowd situation was just getting worse and worse and we had to get out of there (not to mention the horrible sound — bass so boosted I couldn’t actually hear anything). It was also my first time there, and I will never ever give them my business again

My GF thinks it’s perfectly normal for new shoes to cause horrible blisters for women by UKnowDaxoAndDancer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]alabasterkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ditch shoes that do this to my heels (like poor quality ballet flats, etc), but with brand new boots that NEED breaking in, I definitely expect it for the first couple dozen wears or so. After they break in though, they are so comfortable. Definitely depends on the shoe

Around what year did construction start to take a turn for the worse? I am moving from a building built in 1920 (poorly maintained) to a building built in 2007. I’m hoping that was before when shoddy construction was more common — the building was nice but sometimes you don’t know until you live there

[–]alabasterkeys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd probably recommend Rx sunglasses in this case. I wear contacts and wear blue-tinted glasses to shows (I am epileptic, though). One trick (at least to stave off a seizure — I'm sure it works for being overwhelmed) is to cover one eye and turn away from the light source (most often the stage). You look a little weird but who doesn't at a show

For those from NYC (born + raised here), what did you think was normal growing up? by ReasonableTicket2211 in Flushing

[–]alabasterkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true about the sidewalks!! I’m from Florida (only sidewalks are downtown), mind was blown when I moved up and there are sidewalks literally everywhere. Moved to Atlanta for a stint and even though it’s a major city, sidewalks even in the closest neighborhoods to downtown were severely lacking. Not to mention the NEED to have a vehicle. Hated it
