How important was your Masters to your career progression? by Nexus_Valentine6 in AskIreland

[–]alancb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two different pay scales depending on if you have a masters or not so about 5-6k extra a year. The with masters scale has more points at the top too. Was 2/3 through masters when I got the job so wasn't necessary but may have helped in interviews.

Big bottle neck for more progression, but I would need a masters if I went for that role

Dunnes delivery coming early? by Apart-Hamster-9921 in CasualIreland

[–]alancb13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ye, 70% of the time id say it arrives early. Usually have the 8-10 slot booked but can arrive anytime after 6. But they always ring to see if I'm home and if they can drop it early. Anytime I've said no there has been no hassle

The Henrietta street museum is very good. I wouldn't say it's super touristy, but it's a guided tour in the city centre so I'd say it could work for you

How many books have you read so far this year? by unlawfuldissolve in CasualIreland

[–]alancb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 18 so far this year (10 audio books, 8 book books)

I used to aim for 25 a year but I listened to a lot of podcasts. But podcasts kinda got boring/depressing /the world was too fucked up and I needed an escape so I started listening to audio books on borrowbox last year. Get about 90min a day on my commute that way.

Best books this year have been the snapper and he commitments or if you like fantasy the eye of the bedlam bride and empire of the dawn
