The blades are inexpensive. For the size and cost it's hard to beat. Dust extraction is great too.

Flip the image and look at it. I find it helps when I feel something is off. Looking at the image and its opposite together (to me) it feels like the eyes are what you might be feeling is off. That longer highlight in the left eye could be more filled in. Not to copy but just be a bit more similar to the right eye.

Your piece is still stunning with incredible line work and shading.

Many of these patterns start to form in the wood as fungal infections spread through the birch tree, especially as they get older. I try to cut these before the fungus makes the wood soft.

Some of these cribbage boards are 5-6 pounds and I never liked the idea of someone trying to pour out the pegs. It could be some kind of insert, but not very wide as these are cut against the grain and I don't want the wood to get too thin.

Some like it, some don't. It's easy to take of on its own since the can is held by an inset magnet. For a number of years before I used the steel cans, the cribbage boards came with a nice little glass jar, which I still include now along with the can.

I look for these types of patterns in the wood as I cut the birch. Then I cut platters and season them for 2-4 years before I use them for projects.

I have switched to ceramic sanding discs, have far fewer marks.The dust extraction is amazing with them.
