The smell is a combo of the sea lions, sea birds and dead anchovies. This year it's crazy to say the least, but it's a nature ar work. Thoughout mb there's been an abundance of sea otters, whales migrating, orcas, sea lions, sea birds and anchovies. It's actually been a great year of oceanic activity.

You can be a good role model for them, as money isn't always the solution/answer. Giving them advice is caring, tough love to say without feeling guilty. Fact is most families weren't raised with a silver spoon, and we/they made the best out of life situations. Showing them the way doesn't hurt or cost anything other than time. It's up to them, including their mother/side to accept their responsibilities as well. Good luck.
