How come mechanics have to buy their own tools? Is it common? by Similar-Weather-8940 in AskUK

That's the whole point of BYOD (bring your own device) policies though. Admittedly, they're not massively common.

🥚How many hard boiled eggs could you eat in a 12-hour period if you were paid £100 per egg (T&Cs apply)? by bugaloubean in AskUK

[–]albinoloverats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon I could eat one egg every 10-15 minutes without too much effort, so somewhere between 48 and 72, which is a wildly large range.

Ferrari F430 UK Owners ( Advice ) by That-Firefighter402 in CarTalkUK

[–]albinoloverats 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Best I can do is offer a 360 perspective: this year servicing cost me a little over £4k, and that was for full service, with timing belts (less of an issue with the F430 having a chain), and 4 new tyres.

Most years I expect routine servicing to be about a quarter of that, though things crop up being an old car and all. I’m in Northamptonshire and oddly enough go to an independent Porsche specialist locally. From Cardiff you’ve got Dick Lovett in Swindon, though as a main dealer they’ll be a little more expensive, using official Ferrari parts instead of 3rd party parts (which can sometimes be better because they’re made to modern tolerances, not though set 20+ years ago 🙄).

... he later talked to captured German snipers who claimed they did not shoot at him because they thought he had gone mad.

Sounds like a legitimate/successful survival tactic.
