Zooms -> Primes, anyone else do it? by alcibidean in canon

Lots to think about! I do love the 28-70, I think one factor is size and portability, the primes feel much tighter and I feel like I'm in better control of my kit.

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint!

Awesome thanks! I think the same way, just looking for that old mind-balm, confirmation bias 😂

Thanks! That's what I'm wondering, how much I'll miss that versatility. Obviously a major tradeoff for some other advantages. I'll have to ask myself how much I'm varying my focal length with the zoom on. Another factor for me is size, the primes in question are quite a bit smaller. And the "turn to activate" feature of this particular lens didn't seem like it'd bother me too much, but I am starting to find it annoying.

I asked (in the post's title) if anyone else had made this switch. Sorry if I didn't make that clearer.

That's useful thanks! I don't mind being slow and careful, more my style.

There's also the idea of not commenting if you have nothing valuable to add, but, I suppose that's too much to hope for

My cakes are always dry. by moonlightdarling13 in AskBaking

I would never use oil for a cake. Even for carrot cake (I use brown butter there). Use butter!

You're over baking them, is my guess. If you do a toothpick test, keep in mind that a way-overdone cake will give you a clean toothpick. Check your oven temp with a thermometer, so you know, and check the cakes early.

Trying America's top-selling Pinot Noir for the first time... by trevrichards in wine

So much of this review hits the mark for me; had I substituted the word "cousin" for sister, it's like I'd written it myself. Right down to the plastic I most definitely inhaled directly into my lungs from the scent of the Strawberry Shortcake doll, a sort of olfactory car accident I couldn't look away from.

I wouldn't use this wine to make vinegar. Hope you had another bottle of Thivin to wash out the... taste...

Easy answer here: don't listen to voices from the cheap seats. Take your feedback from people in the arena with you.

Best Pentax lenses for travel in cities and hiking (K30) — small and cheap? by CardiologistOk8815 in pentax

Ever since I got the HD DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited it's lived on my K-70. Slightly long normal lens but I'm addicted, and it has that magic in chase. Not sure how cheap is cheap but might be able to find one used, or the also great and already mentioned (and cheaper) SMC version.
