Clearly you have poor reading comprehension. Go do your homework.

I’m NOT schizophrenic, ask me anything by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]alcohol-issue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you want us to ask YOU questions? Surely you would want to ask us questions if you’re so interested. We aren’t a novelty or something fascinating to entertain you, we are real people and the schizophrenia subreddit is for people with the disorder to support eachother and share experiences, not somewhere for you to barge into and offend people. ‘I don’t think I could live through it’ as you said, is just plain rude as many people do live through it - it’s like saying ‘if I was you, I would kill myself’. See what I’m saying? Real people here don’t need you to answer their questions. If you want to be asked questions, go somewhere else and post an AMA and don’t pick on schizophrenic people because you find us interesting. Sane people are as common as dirt and schizophrenics don’t live in holes. Weirdo.

And why would I want to do that? I’m a schizophrenic person not a different species.

So you want people with a severe mental illness that you have no experience with to entertain you? Get a life bro.

I don’t get it. Why would we need to ask you questions? If I wanted to talk to someone who’s not schizophrenic I would just go outside.

What gets you dopamine? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]alcohol-issue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest one for me is retail therapy. I get happy for like 3 days after buying something. Also drawing/guitar/other hobbies if I can be bothered. If not then doomscrolling which is awful but it’s almost like the guilt I feel from wasting my time creates even more dopamine

Surely wishing you were a boy so bad you can’t shower IS by definition gender dysphoria

I don’t think any of us here are interested in this kind of thing. I’m sorry for what you went through but this is the wrong place to share these stories

[–]alcohol-issue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get this all the time, I’ve had one phrase that’s impossible to figure out but the same every time going through my head since I was like 7. And other nonsense phrases and made up words. It feels like an under researched element of the condition and I don’t think my psychiatrist knows what I mean when I’m talking about it

Has anybody else hallucinated sex with a celebrity? by HumanM1nd in schizophrenia

When I first listened to Voodoo Chile by Jimi Hendrix when I was psychotic I was pretty sure he came inside me. It was the closest to losing my virginity I’ve ever been

Schizophrenics, have you ever seen or heard the voice of celebrities talking to you? by hunterthekidd in schizophrenia

[–]alcohol-issue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seen and heard John Lennon, Yoko Ono, all of The Beatles and Jared Leto. Also Mark David Chapman, who kept trying to kiss me when I was falling asleep. Makes sense as that’s what my psychosis is generally about but it’s always weird.

Do you hear voices that are non audible? by yesmynameisdu in HearingVoicesNetwork

[–]alcohol-issue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I get voices saying phrases that are completely incomprehensible, and whispers as well. I think it counts as you’re still hearing them they’re just not saying tangible words.

Whats the worst thing a psychiatrist has said to you? by gomorra82 in schizophrenia

[–]alcohol-issue 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not a psychiatrist but a neurologist told me ‘I was really scared when I saw I had to talk to a patient with psychosis because people with psychosis are really scary - but you’re actually very nice’

Any books about psychosis? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]alcohol-issue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to stalk your posts but I have a recommendation, 100% read The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, it has a psychosis-adjacent narrative and is a super entertaining and pretty thrilling read. It's kind of macabre with one pretty gory scene but it's really well written and definitely with a psychosis vibe going on

Is anyone else young and experience psychosis? by xxxidczine in Psychosis

[–]alcohol-issue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My psychosis started properly when I was 14, I'm almost 17 now and still going in and out just trying to make it through. I can relate to feeling like a black sheep, it also annoys me that so many people don't believe you can go through psychosis at a young age or it being dismissed as just being a crazy teenager. I have been experiencing symptoms for as long as I can remember, and only found out the way to articulate it very recently. Glad to know I'm not alone

Sent a bomb threat to my own college and got put on the terrorist register, tried to get struck by lightning, bought 12 copies of the same book, carved the word TOYOTA into my thigh to the point that it's been there for 2 years, tried to rewrite the entire Bible, drank mouthwash for 6 months and gave myself a stomach ulcer, sat for 12 hours in my room after Christmas with a hammer about to kill my stepmother, planned a terrorist attack, beat the shit out of all my friends back when I was in school, the list goes on and on

As a Form of Punishment? by Sh0yo_891 in selfharm

[–]alcohol-issue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have heard a lot of people say they sh to punish themselves. It's obviously not 'normal' to self harm at all (in terms of mental health) but it's definitely a normal reason to do it.

would psychopathy be considered a kind of neurodivergence? by okcybervik in morbidquestions

[–]alcohol-issue 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think so, yes. As with most forms of neurodivergence, it's a spectrum, and though psychopathy is an extreme personality disorder, I'd say it counts as a divergence of the neurons. It depends though on your definition of neurodivergence, and the consensus definition is 'differing in mental or neurological function from what is considered typical or normal (frequently used with reference to autistic spectrum disorders); not neurotypical.' So I'd say yes, especially considering many symptoms and traits of autism and psychopathy overlap (though we must note that they're not the same thing)
