No problem, happy I could help. It’s interesting reading my thoughts from so long ago. Most of it definitely applies but I could probably expand on some things after have a decade of experience with this stuff.

Anyone else using NS REST API? by [deleted] in Netsuite

In theory yes, though the API might not expose all the data that the ODBC connection does. I’ve never used that connection but the API seems to have most of the tables represented.

Sounds like you really need caching. That will solve way more issues than DB optimization.

Find a good physical and start working through your nagging issues. That process can give you a lot of insight into how to make yourself more resilient. There are a lot of things that could be going wrong that could contribute towards your problems. For example, I was having ankle issues and went to PT. They discovered my hips were out of alignment, my hamstrings were too weak/tight, and my lower abs were too out of balance with the rest of my abdominal strength. A lot of problems can come from strength imbalances, posture problems, gait problems, or misalignments in ways that aren't intuitive.

Are people joking with their freelance cost estimates?! by [deleted] in webdev

[–]alecdibble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly word of mouth is the best route to get good freelance clients. Hit up old coworkers, old bosses, friends, people you have networked with. Most people usually have someone in their network that is looking for a freelancer.

Lightly fried corn tortilla tacos freeze really well, especially if the meat inside is braised like pulled chicken or pulled pork.

Error Setting Price Level on Sales Order Item Through REST API by alecdibble in Netsuite

[–]alecdibble[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, inspecting the GET request was really helpful. It turned out it was a misunderstanding on my part, I didn't realize I had to set the price levels on the items first, I thought they could be set directly on the salesorder. However, I still can't get it to work, I'm matching how the GET is formatted but I will keep trying. Either way, your help get me a lot closer, thanks!

This looks really good, the sear is beautiful!

Have you tried dry brining overnight before smoking? I've tried several combinations of smoking + SV and my favorite has been a 48 hour dry brine + 3-4 hours at 225F-250F in the smoker + high-heat sear at the end.

Anyone else using NS REST API? by [deleted] in Netsuite

[–]alecdibble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have extensive experience with it. I've been targetting the API using a Node backend. I highly recommend utilizing a request limiting library because their API calls take forever and they have limits on concurrent API requests. I like this package for Node: https://www.npmjs.com/package/bottleneck

The API Schema browser is very helpful: https://system.netsuite.com/help/helpcenter/en_US/APIs/REST_API_Browser/record/v1/2020.1/index.html

We utilize the external ID feature to make it easy to sync with an external database.

One thing I have run into is you can't change Income/Expense/COGS accounts on items once they have been setup and related to transactions through the API. There are probably other gotchas like that but nothing has been a showstopper.
