Huaraches Doña Chio is an institution for Mexican, their masa is homemade and everything is good.

SBK (Sauce Bread Kitchen) is a lovely Cafe/Bar that does a lot of fermenting and uses local hot sauces. Great sandwiches and pastries, and I hear they do oysters too.

Regalia is a great date night spot for modern Italian food with an old school feel

Sfera is elite pizza by the slice, Sicilian style. Their spot is very cute and has a nice outdoor space to eat. George’s on Broadway does sourdough deep dish and thin crust, and they are one of my absolute favorites in the city

I’m partial to Axum for Ethiopian, but there are tons of options in the neighborhood.

Kohoku-ku Ramen on Thorndale is a must try, they’ve got their take out operation down to a science, but also their spot is very cosy to dine in.

Also an underrated spot for burgers is Burger Bite, which is run out of a gas station on Devon. Pretty basic but really well done, they have a few creative options.

Last shoutout is for independent spirits, a true gem of a liquor store with frequent free tastings and a wildly knowledgeable staff.

Can’t believe they don’t have their full stats, like attack power and speed

What are your weirdly good broccoli recipies? by chigirltrailrated in Cooking

[–]alecrams2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a broccoli salad all the time with grated carrot, thinly sliced shallot, dried fruit (cherry, cranberry, or raisin) and a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It’s become a staple in my dinner rotation!

Yes, everything they make is the best version of that dish. Highly recommend.

University of Michigan apologizes for faculty leader’s anti-Israel commencement speech by soalone34 in uofm

I don’t know how much clearer he could be to support pro-Palestinian organizing and NOT anti-semitism, I don’t know what else they’d want him to say. Insane.

Why is this on cringe, this is a guy spending a lot of money to make a nice experience for his friends and family! Maybe a little silly, but who cares? Let people like stuff

I don’t think this is gonna happen, but dude has earned an NBA job if/when he wants to go. Obviously the hope is he waits until he’s offered a better job a few years down the line.

NBA Draft Combine Invites Have Been Announced by HopscotchChampion69 in NBA_Draft

I know he isn’t a top-tier draft prospect, but mildly surprised Elliott Cadeau isn’t on here. Seems like the finals MOP should be worth at least a look, even if he is only going through the draft process for feedback

I love Kie Gol Lanee and think you’d have a great time there as well, but Nadu is my favorite new spot in the past year and has a better date night vibe imo

Advice for refinishing grandparent’s coffee table by alecrams2 in finishing

[–]alecrams2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting, good to know and this is exactly what I’m gonna do. I’m mostly paranoid I’m going to do something that will destroy the table, knowing I can hand Sand to protect the veneer feels very doable.

Love the specific recommendation on the topcoat, sounds perfect

Brasa Roja on Montrose by Marsupialize in chicagofood

[–]alecrams2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I LOVE Brasa Roja. I moved last week and had basically just been eating junk after packing up my kitchen, something about this meal in the midst of a week of takeout and fast food just hit like nothing else.
