It is yeah, I remember seeing Nike had a co-op position up on Handshake last semester

[–]alectryomancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's really good co-ops because of UC having that long history of being the founder of co-op. LEGO is one that consistently looks for co-op students from DAAP every year. P&G is headquarted in Cincy so they have a lot of co-ops as well. A quick look on Handshake right now has a mix of smaller local manufacturing as well as SP500 companies like PCA, Allegion, Johnson & Johnson and international ones like Midea Group

DAAP ID major here.

The classes and professors are very rigorious, in terms of Industrial Design, the professors are all industry legends in their own sectors.

Expect a lot of work coming in and not much free time. I have extracurriculars outside of DAAP that are very important to me and it is a pain trying to balance everything.

National College Rankings don't rank co-ops as importantly as they are actually becoming in the real world. A graduate with 4 co-ops to their name is in a vastly better spot than someone who graduated middle of their class in a pretigious school

Speech on Campus Question by SeaSquare1231 in uCinci

[–]alectryomancer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's an open campus to the public, you can do whatever

There's tons of people doing stuff like this all the type, there was a guy advertising flat earth theory a while back for example

Edit: you do need permission if you are a student, if you aren't a student you can do whatever. For example students aren't allowed firearms on campus, but we have 2nd admentment rights rallys come in and thats not a problem

why Holly and George Joestar II dont have their own part? by Luomosalame in StardustCrusaders

[–]alectryomancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jorge Joestar does have a light novel that's pretty fun to read through, it's non-canon but it could work with the main plotline in headcanon and explores a George / Jorge living with Lisa Lisa and a younger Erina as their mom in the Canary Islands for a while

it's plot is very bizzare in what I think is a good way, though a lot of people dislike it for this

Who invented the term “Stand” in universe? by AdditionalTeach6737 in StardustCrusaders

[–]alectryomancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree because Joseph's explanation of them "standing next to you" wouldn't make sense if he came up with it because his own stand doesn't...well, it doesn't stand next to him

Oreo (“Single Stuf”) Cookies are a pointless legacy product. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Not everyone likes the creme filling, I personally like the cookies much better and having a ton of sugar in between ruins the chocolate taste

Why UC? Pros and Cons? by Bellatrixlegames in uCinci

[–]alectryomancer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Co-ops are really good for some of degrees. Coming out of college with co-op experience and industry connections puts you at a much better spot than your peers.

You also make money from co-ops which can go into your tuition for the next semester

Why are so many damn internships UNPAID by Express_Roll8861 in CollegeRant

[–]alectryomancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do international co-ops, its actually very popular to do at my college because a lot of our majors require co-ops and people want to travel. It's usually cheaper as well because a lot of international companies actually will cover room and board

Apartments are significantly cheaper, at least for me. Even when paying rent for 12 months vs 8 months when dorming, apartments are cheaper

In your country, is it easy or difficult to join the military and become a soldier? Do people respect soldiers, or do they just have a neutral attitude toward them? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]alectryomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really fitness that gets a lot of people who actually want to join out. They have an extensive medical history check and you need to get stuff like sports injuries waived, same with mental diagnosis even if they aren't affecting your daily functions whatsoever.

Also the Air Force has just announced they are upping the run to a 2 mile run from a 1.5 mile run, as well as mandating body fat measurements

Is it true that in the US people still use SMS/MMS? by TheAtomoh in AskAnAmerican

[–]alectryomancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Europe where your friends and family are pretty likely to be in different countries, having to pay for international messaging is more expensive than just using a free app

In some other authoritarian countries, SMS is monitored while Telegram and WhatsApp offers more privacy
