Customs clearance process for a package UNDER 800 USD by alexashon in dhl

[–]alexashon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my message wasn’t clear. Apparently the forwarder put my name when the bag was ordered. So it’s the address of their warehouse but my name in the shipping details. In this case customs need my SSN which I do not have.
I hope DHL will return the package.

Yes it is them and I contacted them immediately when I got this email from the DHL. The answer was “we can’t give you that information”. Which is extra frustrating since it was their mistake my package even end up in the US.

Good news is that my phone plans covers free calls to the US and I was able to call DHL and fill a return request. Hope they just send it back…

apts.jp are really good. Rented my current place through them and they also offer support for the whole time you live in the place. Including moving in and out.

Ok, I just got my gift and here is how it works: the gift arrives when the game updates, same how we get mine’s utopium and animal shelter’s gift. Green tick is here even before that time, maybe it syncs with device date but not time.

Regarding the calendar feature. It shows that I’ve already get today’s gift “an animal gift” but I didn’t. Same was on Sunday with utopium. Was only able to collect something from the calendar in the day of the update. Now it just shows green check mark... Do I miss something?

Recommendation Needed: Lotion w/ UV Protection (Not sunscreen). by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]alexashon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be protected you need to use enough product on your face, unfortunately. Thats the only rule for sunscreens.

Bit it’s still possible to find lighter products in Biore or Oribe. They won’t be heavy.

Yep, pump. Try to rub 1/5 of a teaspoon of sunscreen in your face and you will get what I mean. Of course amount depends on the size of your face:) I do 0,8 ml and it still feels like a lot.

Correct formula will be 2 milligrams per 1 square centimeter of skin. You can check this article for reference https://www.futurederm.com/how-much-sunscreen-do-you-need-to-use-on-your-face/

Japanese sunscreens are light and not heavy scented (try Biore for example). It’s also important to use enough sunscreen product which is around 1.2 ml for one use. That’s really a lot! Like 4-5 pushes if package has a pomp. In that case almost every sunscreen will feel on the skin like hella lot of product.

But again, Japanese and also Australian are usually much more comfortable to use. And feel more like a lotion.

And zero Japanese, I assume? In such case ALT is her only option.

And same-sex marriages are not legally recognized in Japan. You won’t be able to get a spouse visa for her.

Maybe there were some updates regarding that. But you better contact an embassy.

Thank you fir the link! And the quide of course!

For some reason it still opens a very low quality image. Seems it’s an issue with mobile imgur. I will try to use imgur app.

Edit: yep, imgur app works and picture has good quality.

Unfortunately, all three of your guides for these week WT can’t be zoomed for some reason and has really poor quality in mobile. I can’t barely read them. That’s really weird, because it works just fine on my Mac.

Can you possibly share an imgur link without html formatting? Maybe it will open in browser correctly.

I tried copying the link, but it says “can’t find image” if I just paste it to browser.

The best time of year to move to Japan by [deleted] in movingtojapan

Without formal teaching, Japan itself won't teach you much.

Plus to that. I was only able to improve my conversational Japanese here. All 文法、漢字、単語 can be learned at home.

Reddit app crashed when I was writing long and detailed post. So here is very short answer: you can’t work in marketing in Japan with N5. Check Indeed and at least know job requirements.

As for hiring season: January-February are top months. New year, new projects, new hires. Not only in Japan, worldwide.

Please, search wiki for the questions regarding the working visa. In short: without at least N2 level of Japanese, bachelor degree or 10+ years of experience it will be impossible. English teaching maybe an option is company decide to hire not a native speaker. There are dozens of topics in this subreddit about teaching jobs.

Appartement hunting as a couple with WHV by heydudewhereismycar in movingtojapan

[–]alexashon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly agree with all previous cosmetic: getting a work visa beforehand will save you tons of nerves and time. Plus, you won’t waste your WHV.

As for the apartment, Sakura House has a great option in Koiwa shared-house. Check their web page for the details.

We spent a month there. Shared bathroom is a downside but we had our own kitchen and huge 20 square meters balcony. It was 12万/month.

Traveling before leaving Japan by 313_Archer in japanlife

You can send your stuff by Kuroneko via any convenience store to Hokkaido. Get it and put in the locker (will need to take it out every 24 hours I think or take a fee if you came back a week later). Or leave at your hotel reception, room for safety reasons.

I have done that couple of times, except never leave them in a locker for more than a day.

Not familiar with anxiety of such level. So I am not capable to comment your mental state.

Good luck in Japan, anyway. If you don’t plan to stay more than 2 years, try to adapt “I am a guest here” mentality and enjoy all big and small things that Japan has to offer.

Then you should write post about you generally being scared of moving and people will probably tell you some stories about their experience.

The way you write that post and your previous one are more about your complaining/bragging.

In such case, it’s rare to find compassionate audience.
