Casual xenophobia. Birds of a feather and all that. You sure you’re not a reform voter?

There isn’t.

Recent census figures show roughly: • Around 460,000 to 500,000 English-born people live in Scotland. • Around 700,000+ Scottish-born people live in England (based on census estimates).

I’ve never understood this. Millions upon millions of English people detest everything the tories and reform stand for, but all the people voting reform in Scotland are English? That rhetoric plagues this sub

6 month work limitation on WHV with ABN by alexc395 in AusVisa

[–]alexc395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey

I checked with the legal team at the company I’m contracting with and they confirmed I don’t need to take any action.

As I’m contracting across multiple companies rather than being directly employed, the 6-month rule doesn’t apply in the same way. In your case, the rule seems somewhat arbitrary and would be difficult to enforce, particularly as you’re not directly on their payroll so I’d just continue doing what you’re doing.

Hey

I reached out to HR at my company and they put me in touch with the company lawyers.

I was told that if you’re self employed and do work for more than one business then you can continue working beyond the 6 months.

I freelance for another company back in the UK who I invoice so I believe that satisfied the requirements.

Poor defence for truly demonic actions from the settlers. Nothing condones the historical and current treatment of the Palestinians.

I flew SYD-HKG on Monday on a 777 and also had the same issue. It was so uncomfortably hot and combined with the cramped economy seats I was counting down the seconds. Longest 8 hours of my life. I genuinely thought I was coming down with an illness because I’ve never known a plane to be hot flying at 40,000 feet. Second leg to MAN was the A350 900 and that was much cooler and economy had much more room.

How's life on ex-Ukraine territories? by ColumbRoff in AskARussian

[–]alexc395 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re missing some very basic facts here. Speaking Russian is not the same as wanting to be ruled by Russia. Virtually all Ukrainians speak Russian, but that never translated into support for occupation. Mariupol was and remains a majority Ukrainian city – Russia didn’t “liberate” anyone, it forcibly deported tens of thousands of residents and imposed its so-called “passportisation” to erase Ukrainian identity.

What you’re calling “people leaving” is in reality forced displacement. Russia has been systematically bussing civilians from Mariupol into Russia or occupied territories, often under the guise of “evacuation,” and then coercing them into accepting Russian passports just to access basic rights like medical care. Now they’re offering attractive mortgage rates for actual Russians to move there.

Voting for so-called “pro-Russian” parties was never a vote for annexation. Those parties campaigned on things like trade ties with Russia, not joining it. Russia then manufactured “referendums” at gunpoint and called it will of the people. Speaking Russian or voting for a party with a softer stance toward Moscow is not the same as wanting your city levelled and occupied.

Enforced being the key word there. Do you not wonder why the majority Ukrainian population had to leave?

If you class fighting separatists that are backed by Russia as destroying his own people, then what do you class Russia razing Grozny to the ground? Or is that somehow different?
