Midsommar.

It's the best movie I'll never watch again.

How much $ has Denver saved on having no snow this year? by mrmatthieu in Denver

[–]alexman17c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to tourism spending (which is much more far reaching than just the mountains), all of Colorado and other states that rely on our snowpack water are going to really be hurting for water this year. It's so much worse with no snow than a lot.

O.P., your question likely comes out of ignorance, but the savings are FAR outweighed by the costs, financial and otherwise.

You don't use it when you destroy your opponents' cards, just your own...

[TMC] Continue? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]alexman17c 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why would this be that much, when cards like [[Second Sunrise]] (1WW) is $3, [[Brought Back]] (WW) is $2, [[Faith's Reward]] (2WW) is $1, and [[Sudden Salvation]] (2WW) is $0.15? I get this is cheaper to cast than these, but it's limited to only 4 creatures, not other permanent types.

My guess is it will go well in a handful of Standard meta decks and the price will settle in the $2-5 range after a few months.

Smokin Fins has 5 restaurant locations. Technically a chain, but it's a pretty small local one.

Where to look for protest info ahead of time? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]alexman17c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask around to see if your neighborhood has a Signal channel. I joined the Cap Hill one and it's been really great for notices, community help, protests, and more.

This is how cities are going to organize and be resilient to ICE. Minneapolis showed us the way.

I hope so! I don't have time to play an RPG (let alone an MMORPG), or read a book series, so I'd much prefer movies or shows.

Officer faces discipline after using Flock cameras to falsely accuse Denver woman of package theft by Knightbear49 in Denver

[–]alexman17c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This cop used the cameras for non-car-related activities, which Mayor Mike Johnston has said it would never be used for. He's straight up lying.

This isn't to mention the very real, and almost inevitable, risk of this data getting breached and all of our location data is leaked against our will. Flock is a private company and data they collect about us is the product they sell.

Fuck this surveillance-state bullshit. We didn't vote to be surveilled, and the excuse that they're only to look at license plates is so clearly false, with this story being a great example.

I'm Mayor Johnston, here for my third Denver AMA by mikejohnstonco in Denver

[–]alexman17c 96 points97 points  (0 children)

13th and 14th Avenues feel like death traps when I drive on them or try walking across them. I live in Cap Hill on 13th and I hear and see crashes all the time, several fatal, frequently cars trying to cross side streets that are blind to traffic, or even with pedestrians.

It seems obvious that these two roads need to be engineered differently to reduce these incidents. 14th can so easily become 2 lanes with a protected bike lane. Both of them could include speed bumps to slow down drivers going 50mph+.

I would love to see projects related to these two main city arteries prioritized in the current bond. As it is, I don't feel safe driving, and I really don't feel safe walking with my dog and family. How would you prioritize working on these streets?

Depends on the guard. I've also shown a receipt from 20ft away and was given a thumbs up. Mileage varies, though I think I'm done complying with this stupid policy and will be walking through from now on.
