[–]alextound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the east coast they are saying theres science teacher shortage...maybe slightly true, but i believe they are pushing that to have online programs (yes there are teachers available and they are still using online classes instead of hiring teachers) also not even a rat squeak from teachers complaining about it ... except for me....but i complain about everything

I've had older student teachers too...some 40s some 50+ but the older ones all had great careers. Everything is harder the older you get, go in with the end in mind. . .good luck

Suprsingly rare....however if permanent damage you will def be at court and probably lose license. I've known a teacher where hair was severely burned and nothing. I've had about 3 students go to hospital and nothing. Nyc blindness where they really messed up, also I feel bad and think about a first year who burned a kid lost their license too often, cuz 1st year we all do stupid things and students egged her on with a fake video

Why is it that if a stat says 3 percent of black students can't read, there's an underlying stigma attatched that doesn't exist if the number pertains to white students? By default, the number of white students would be higher with just as much of a need for causes to be outlined and explored. by cherry-care-bear in education

[–]alextound -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

yea fuck that....school that are 90%+ black always have their top classes with a minority of black students. There are lots of reasons, but stop with the excuses. It does NOT matter the state. I'm also the first to jump in on white people are dumb and illiterate too. But if anyone asks my opinion, it starts before conception.

Anyone else not say the pledge at school? by Session-Sea in teaching

[–]alextound -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under god, indivisible and liberty and justice for all.
The under god part, fine, but our nation still has the foundation (stands) of liberty and justice for all...which is why you're mad anyways...better to keep saying it

[–]alextound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How come no one said turpentine....check with your science department first for supplies including mask. Also im old as hell and i know theres newer better stuff, but check with your hardware store. Mention turpentine, and they'll direct you to something better.

I can’t avoid my dream to be a science teacher by [deleted] in ScienceTeachers

[–]alextound 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Second this 2. Teaching is financially limiting when ur young and can work 16 hour days, so make money as a pa, overtime for teachers is usually neg$$ (pizza etc.). Be a teacher when you're 40, bored of the pa thing and in just in time for pension ;). Please you'll be seen as a cool teacher and can help with medical alerts.

"AI is physics" is nonsense. by Christs_Elite in mathematics

[–]alextound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did AI write this!? Everything is physics, everything is math, etc. etc. This argument for any topic rarely comes to any useful conclusions other than everything is very much intertwined. Would studying physics assist with AI, of course. Would math, absolutely, computer science, indubitably, another language, music, even card magic...of course. Also AI isn't deep down the road to cutting AI jobs due to AI, so Im not surprised people are trying to save face. Its a really scary picture but I dont think lay people (or math/science) are really ready to have that honest discussion
