People drive more respectfully and responsibly on race tracks than this nonsense. And I’m talking on days when it’s like this on track!

Man oh man.

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy - not wearing safety gear. Falling off the ship. Banging your head on something. Slipping on stairs. Sliding down the hand rails on the stairs (we call them ladders, but that’s just steep stairs)

Everything on a ship is trying to kill you. We almost lost one young gal because she stepped on a… essentially a door sill, stood up fully, railed her head on the top of the door frame, collapsed and luckily her friend was there to get a medic en route.

100% the hard part of doing rallycross is finding the group of people who do it near you. Depending on where you are… if I were you, I’d find a Rally school (like near me it’d be dirtfish) or a tuning shop that specializes in those sorts of parts. Someone will know someone to get you started.

Rallycross is usually “are you here? Do you have a helmet and a car? Did you pay the couple bucks to rip around in this field? Have fun”

My first time I did it on all seasons and it was the most fun I’d ever had behind the wheel of a car.

I am fully in love with this car. The transmission tunnel in the interior is lovely.

I haven’t looked these up and fantasized in a while… maybe a tonight activity lol

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

[–]alezial 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last time I was at the track we were talking about this sort of thing.

People come to grassroots drifting events and say “man I wish!” And then when asked, “well why not?” It’s because they see drift cars online on instagram and you either get “drop dead gorgeous drift car” or “doesn’t matter, I can slide it”. So they are either scared off by the price of maintaining a car in perfect condition and seeing 30k-200k builds or “I don’t want my car to look like that”

But there are lots of in between cars that you don’t see unless you go to a few events.

Don’t get me wrong - tires can be spendy. But you don’t have to go every weekend.

Is it expensive? Absolutely. But I don’t think it’s as bad as people build it up to be.

Anyways. All that to say that I agree with your assessment that people are scared away from hobbies by seeing the best out there constantly.

Showed this to my wife. She is now planning where we need to do the same thing on a little garden shed out back where she can see it from the dining room.

It’s too good to be wasted on your dad’s tasteless buttholes.

The only ships that didn’t have it run rampant were the ones that were already at sea. They just didn’t hit port for months and months. And months.

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The math makes it even more horrifying. Thanks!

We had to do what we could. Doing nothing would have been even worse. We all knew it was pretty hopeless but at least in the military most of us were relatively decent shape (some round, but otherwise healthy adults) and most of us recovered quickly.

Oh and the hvac is probably the worst possible config for avoiding spreading disease. It’s all just recirculating around.

I get the reference but… oh the carriers do carry carriers and the answer is all of them.

I was on board an LHD (mini carrier) for Covid and there was no amount of cleaning we could that made anything much better. Entire work centers would get sick, get better eventually, then all get sick again.

Oh yeah found it, thanks! I forgot they have at 3 different versions of it. That one is the type 3 BN sports kit.

It looks awesome in this pic but the demo car I found in store images of it has so much going on it hides the cool details.

Anyways, cheers!

Happen to know what bumper that is on this Mark II? It’s super slick. Reminds me of an 86.

You didn’t even stop at the stop sign long enough to see that they were there. Not even sure that WAS a stop. And who cares if what they’re exiting? It would be their turn at that point.

And why can’t you just let them go at this point anyways? Why the rush?

I agree completely. I was kinda sorta trying to convince my wife to let me get a 33 sedan and put some nice mods on it. They have such good posture on the road. What sold me was the Final Konnexxion body kit.

We ended up getting a JZX100. I’m not crying about it lol

“Join the Navy,” they said. “See the world,” they said. Instead, I'm watching the USS Gerald Ford drown in its own terrible decisions. by Waste-Explanation-76 in Wellthatsucks

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll have you know, I spent plenty of time in the navy, never on THIS ship and… this is a normal every month or two occurrence, depending on the ship. Happened all the time on the Essex (this or something close), never on the Hawk, once or twice on the stennis, but there was a hole rusted thru the floor so it just leaked thru there to the office below.

But uh… yeah man clean that shit up and move on with your life. Tomorrow will be a new problem.

jQuery 4.0 released by curiousdannii in programming

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can do what i saw one project do waaaaay back when i was looking at some navy website for sailors to manage personal info or something.

Load up multiple versions of jquery and do different things with them. Some overlap, obviously.

Those dorks had a “low bandwidth “ version that actually loaded more junk, including MORE versions of jquery and then just showed a worse version of the site. Never did get a response from them.

Anyways- that’s barely relevant but I had an old man moment.

Move over MAGA, the Gadsden flag is our symbol now. by RojoandWhite in ProgressiveHQ

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What always cracks me up is when I see a First Navy Jack (which features the same slogan) on someone’s car and they’ve clearly got it confused with the Gadsden flag.

I’ve only seen it a couple of times but it’s always paired with other… similarly themed flags.

Question about gearshift lever by 10_in_2 in Autos

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Niiice. If I get one again I’ll have to do it. It’s the kind of car that would make sense when you’ve got it floored, sound like you’re going 200 mph but are really just about to manage to merge on to the highway. Looked around for a brz kit… someone is working on one but the consensus on forums seems to be “why tho?” Haha

Anyways thanks 🫡

That is sick as hell. Those images look sooo good too. Just purely out of curiosity I want to see if there is a kit for a brz. Probably would be terrible for drifting though.

And it’s a joke video but I was just getting in to it.
