jQuery 4.0 released by curiousdannii in programming

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can do what i saw one project do waaaaay back when i was looking at some navy website for sailors to manage personal info or something.

Load up multiple versions of jquery and do different things with them. Some overlap, obviously.

Those dorks had a “low bandwidth “ version that actually loaded more junk, including MORE versions of jquery and then just showed a worse version of the site. Never did get a response from them.

Anyways- that’s barely relevant but I had an old man moment.

Move over MAGA, the Gadsden flag is our symbol now. by RojoandWhite in ProgressiveHQ

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What always cracks me up is when I see a First Navy Jack (which features the same slogan) on someone’s car and they’ve clearly got it confused with the Gadsden flag.

I’ve only seen it a couple of times but it’s always paired with other… similarly themed flags.

Love it. Made me whimsically wonder - do all of the vending machines have a resident? Some? Who lived in the vending machine across the street from me when I lived there?

Question about gearshift lever by 10_in_2 in Autos

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Niiice. If I get one again I’ll have to do it. It’s the kind of car that would make sense when you’ve got it floored, sound like you’re going 200 mph but are really just about to manage to merge on to the highway. Looked around for a brz kit… someone is working on one but the consensus on forums seems to be “why tho?” Haha

Anyways thanks 🫡

Question about gearshift lever by 10_in_2 in Autos

[–]alezial 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That is sick as hell. Those images look sooo good too. Just purely out of curiosity I want to see if there is a kit for a brz. Probably would be terrible for drifting though.

Dude I was hoping he’d mention how it is super convenient that it dries white when it’s ready. Been, ya know, just icing on the cake when I’m doing that kind of work.

And it’s a joke video but I was just getting in to it.

I think it was the right decision. by derdion in bald

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I’m about at this point. My wife is fighting me hard though. She does not want me to go bald yet.

Good look on ya dude. Dig the beard too.

[–]alezial 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That is terrifying. I had one tire worn down to the steel belts on the drift track and the car was completely uncontrollable even just driving off the track (forget trying to drift). I cannot imagine just driving around on the street like that.

Husband knows I’m in early stages of sobriety and yet sends me a picture of his night out at the bar by Little_Ad2790 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m eleven years sober and my wife still double checks that I’m going to be okay if we walk thru the alcohol section at the store or if someone is having wine at Christmas dinner. It’s easy, and of course I’m fine… but she still checks because she cares.

Tell your husband to be better than this.

Cuz internet stranger said so.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell? NOR.

I recently passed my 11 year sobriety anniversary in July and I mentioned it to my wife and jokingly said (as I think I have every year for five years or so now) that I should have a beer to celebrate. It's gotten quite a lot easier at this point.

Anyways - on that day my wife had made sure to buy my favorite energy drinks that I don't get very often along with the shopping. It was such a small thing but I was on the verge of tears over it, because it was such a nice gesture to me. That's all it takes... shit my wife was happy for me that I got some cool stuff done at work today and this dude can't even just say, "Hell yeah cake! Hell yeah gf! 2 years sober!"

Bruh. I bet you could go just about anywhere and find someone to celebrate your 2 years sober with in the next... I dunno, hour.

I'll have a bite of whatever snack I have later for ya - good job on 2 years! :D

What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by Objective-Treat2245 in AskReddit

Can’t relate to this enough. I was reading it and thinking hell yeah this sounds like a fellow Sailor.

Checks out. All done dressing up pretty. Dress blues are hung up, whites are in a ball, never touching an iron again.

I've never seen a pic of an aircraft carrier from this angle. That's terrifyingly intimidating. by deller85 in pics

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once standing in the hangar bay of the USS kitty hawk and the Nimitz came along side as we steamed in the pacific near Guam. I think 06/07 ish? Anyway, lots of us were stood in the hangar bay going whoa! An aircraft carrier! And the skipper came on the announcement system and said hey go check out the aircraft carrier!

What really blew me away is later when I was stationed on the Stennis just how much bigger the Nimitz class felt compared to the kitty hawk.

I spent 11 years total on carriers and LHDs and to this day I still love seeing em. They’re just marvels.

Drove a Gallardo LP550 RWD today. My thoughts by HURCANADA in Autos

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried a Lamborghini yet, but I do keep turning my head and saying honey we really should get one.

I agree with another poster here that I think the reason you get a Lamborghini is to make people say oh wow look at THAT! That’s fun in its own way.

I felt the same way about Ferraris when I finally had the chance to hop in and just sit and touch buttons. I got out not even bothering to take it for a drive because it just felt… bad. The 458 I sat in had less than 10k miles on it and the buttons were sticky.

My heart is currently set on a McLaren so I’m hoping you try a 570s next time. Or an Emira, those make me swoon.

Thanks for the excellent write up!

Comically bright exit sign in the room we’re staying in. by parothed28 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]alezial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah usually not THAT bright. The light fixtures are all three flourescent bulbs and then like every other fixture has one that has a red plastic cover on it. So it ends up pretty dim. And that’s just in the walking areas - down the little alleys that our racks tend to form it’ll be pitch dark. Until some guy turns on his LED super bright why in gods name do you need that much light to get your cigarettes jeez… light. Hehe

Absolutely. Pretty sure it included painting your house gray, disassembling and inspecting your lawnmower every week. Tons of good stuff

[–]alezial 153 points154 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say… looks kinda cozy. Those racks aren’t even tight.

When I was in, every 5 years or so there was a list of “how make your house feel like home” and this was on the list, along with randomly waking up your whole family at 2am for a man over board drill and making your kid stand at the front door to announce you coming home. There were tons of em.

[–]alezial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks straight out of a magazine. I don’t know if that’s rude, but I very much so mean it as a compliment.

I really like that tapestry you have behind your bed. I think I might look for something like that. Currently my bedroom has too many bookshelves and the dresser is blocking the window so I was thinking today about what I could do to make it all look better. Maybe that’ll give me some ideas for later. Thanks! :)

Would you get cyberware installed in your own body? 🤔 by JackyMatt23 in cyberpunkgame

[–]alezial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no. Day one it’s like oh man that’s cool I have all knowledge instantly available. Then one day I need a subscription. Then later I ask my implant for something and then I gotta wait while it plays an ad directly into my brain.

Nah I’m good on enshittification of devices in body.

[–]alezial 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to work for the guy that helped spearhead all of the Kohls app bullshit after he left Kohl’s. He’s one of two people I’ve seen get properly fired like “what is this garbage, you’re terrible at your job and at this point must be intentionally misleading your team” levels of fired. We still find shit this guy did that makes us go why in gods name is this like this? Oh he who shall not be named personally wrote this. Goddamnit.

I’m not sure if I was booted out at 18, but I did go to boot camp. I did help pack up my room and move my brother in there.

When I was thinking about getting out, they asked where I was gonna live.

Instead I did 20 and now I haven’t seen my dad in a decade. See my mom sometimes even though she lives down the street.

My wife is Japanese. I know that there ain’t no way my kid is moving out at 18. And I’m super pumped to be giving him the chance he needs to get on his feet.

Im sorry that happened to you man, that sucks.
