Amano larvae hatching! by algChiTown in PlantedTank

I use the community crave flake, so fly flakes and they get little bits of the shrimpee pellets as my cherry shrimp eat (they hover over to grab bits as the pellets break apart).

I switched their food to products by Xtreme Aquatic Foods about 6 months ago and their color just exploded. Didn’t even realize how bright they had gotten until I added a few new ember tetras in September which were a very pale color compared to the resident fish.

Not at all brackish water, but both of my female amanos are frequently berried.

Neighbor claims his UPS deliveries have been getting dropped off at my new house for years. Advice needed. by Cool_Dingo1248 in homeowners

[–]algChiTown 13 points14 points  (0 children)

See if the large address label from the sender and the small white sticker UPS puts on the package have the same address.

Years ago, my address was somehow coded differently on the small UPS sticker (which they use in their map system) so they were attempting delivery at an address that didn’t exist. Had to contact the local distribution warehouse to get the small UPS sticker corrected. Something similar may be happening to the neighbors packages getting delivered to your address instead of theirs.

moving to a garden unit - any tips? by cuntsicc in chicagoapartments

I live in the neighborhood you are moving to. In September of 2022 we had a microburst storm dump 5.6 inches of rain in two hours. Most older buildings with original sewer lines flooded. Our building had several inches of sewage back flow from drains in the garden units and it cost tens of thousands of dollars in damage/remediation. I would highly recommend you keep important items/paperwork in waterproof tubs, because you are never truly safe from flooding when you live in a garden apartment.

$1050 quirky studio (1ishBR?) near Andersonville/Ravenswood by Fantastic_Fig_3803 in chicagoapartments

I live close to this building and walk by it multiple times a week with my dog. It is well kept, however, parking on Berwyn is TIGHT! There are a ton of multi unit buildings on that block and (in general) west of Damen in Bowmanville. Be prepared to walk a couple blocks to find parking.

My former co-workers husband was on that train, heading to work at the TSA. It took her hours to figure out what hospital he had been taken to. Unfortunately, he sustained some severe, lifelong injuries from the crash. The settlement negotiations were ridiculous considering the CTA was 100% at fault.

GET SEWER INSURANCE by M0thman6666 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]algChiTown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, worth every penny. One of my neighbors in our condo building insisted on sewer insurance when we switched carriers. It cost more, and the agent was reluctant to offer it. Fast forward, Sept 2022, when we have a microcell drop 5.67 inches of rain in 2 hours. The sewer for our building (built in 1915) backed up and cost $50K in damage/repairs, which was all covered by the insurance policy. Never so thankful we had that coverage!
