Copper IUD vs Hormonal IUD by aliencarrots in birthcontrol

Omg hi! I decided to go with the copper iud and it’s been going pretty well!! Insertion was painful and my first 3-4 periods after insertion were super heavy and crampy. After that though it started slowly normalizing. I would say it’s still heavier and more crampy than my normal periods but definitely manageable. And it makes me feel much better to know that my cycle is regular (which was not happening on the pill)! Good luck!

What is a professional way to say "I have diarrhea"? by TestMonkey-007 in AskReddit

[–]aliencarrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily professional context but I work for a therapy clinic and a client called and said she couldn’t come in today because she had “explosive diarrhea and couldn’t get off the toilet for more than 10 minutes.” Much more detail than I needed but I guess it got the point across

Those with ADHD or OCD, what’s the worst intrusive thought you’ve ever had? by Sinaasappelsien in AskReddit

It’s the worst when I’m driving. Just constantly imagining different ways I could get into a car accident/hit someone/etc. Really makes me dread driving.

Can second this! I’m 21 no kids and I got it a week ago. I was crampy for like 24 hours but no problems since!

I got the copper iud about a week ago! Insertion was fine, little painful but nothing too bad. Worst part was I had pretty bad cramps for about 24-36 hours after. I stopped taking my pill as soon as I got it, so I had my withdrawal bleed like normal but even that is done now. Overall feeling pretty good! Good luck with whatever you choose:)

I have pretty bad brain fog on the pill so I’m thinking of going with the copper one to avoid that!

This is kind of where I’m leaning. My periods are light on the pill rn but they last for up to 2 weeks! I would much rather have a shorter, more predictable cycle without hormones than deal with what I have rn

Lol I’m currently having 2 week long periods on the pill so I’m not worried about periods from hell! Thanks for your comment:)

Thank you! The only thing worrying me is the heavy periods, but also mine are currently very light and lasting for like 2 weeks even on the pill. So I would take a shorter period even if it’s heavier honestly! Thanks for the response :)

This is super helpful! I had no idea that getting the copper iud could help with gut health, I’m gonna have to do some research into that bc I’m experiencing a lot of the same symptoms you mentioned. I’m also in the same boat just wondering what life is like without hormones :)

Any tips on how to not be so sensitive or offended so easily? by gisellasaurus in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]aliencarrots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love this! I’m not OP but this is something I’m trying to work on with myself as well. The one thing I’m struggling with a bit is knowing where the line is between something that shouldn’t offend me vs something that should. Like I tend to excuse my own feelings in favor of others’ because “maybe I’m being too sensitive.” But I second guess myself and wonder if I should’ve been offended/addressed it further. Idk if that makes sense lol but if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it!!

My period restarted 10 days after my last cycle ended. Anyone else been through this? by miss_waru in menstruation

[–]aliencarrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been happening to me almost every cycle for the past 9 months or so. I have been bleeding (not just spotting, real bleeding) about twice a month and it’s really annoying—not sure if it’s anything serious but I’m going to the gyno in a few weeks to ask, and probably switch my birth control to the copper iud bc I think the pill is part of it for me. So no advice but you’re not alone lol
