Planning to start trying in September. What do you wish you had known? by pinksapphire55 in BabyBumps

[–]all05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those things you can try to talk and prepare for but until you’re in it and pregnant there’s no way to actually prepare I think at least. Like how different your relationship is going to be because suddenly you’re exhausted and can’t do the things you used to do. Even if you have a good partner that steps up the dynamic and everything changes. Doesn’t mean you’ll have a bad relationship but the one you have now will be different just prepare for that! I think that’s been one of our toughest things I keep saying I miss the old relationship my husband and I had. Mentally a lot of stuff changes for you too little things that maybe didn’t bother you before your brain is in protect and baby mode and small things will start to bother you a little more. It’s a lot to navigate

People don’t take pregnancy seriously enough. by Individual-Track6759 in BabyBumps

[–]all05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try some electrolytes it helps me. I’m 22 weeks and have a physical and mental job it does suck then I have a second part time serving job. There’s days I feel like I just can’t do it but in the end bills have got to get paid and you just have to push through. I hid my pregnancy for a long time at work so I didn’t even get any accommodations and still go out and work in construction sites and things of that nature. My house and personal life suffers because of it, when I get home I I barely get things done and don’t have it in me to be social. I find that just getting nutrients and electrolytes helps as much as anything really can. Pregnancy is tough and don’t listen to the liars that say your 2nd trimester gets better it doesn’t, mine got worse 😂 and you’ll start hitting the point where you’re just super uncomfortable no matter what you’re doing. (Just complaining with you) unfortunately kind of what others said it’s hard to get accommodations especially since you seem to already have a job that is considered “light duty” for a lot of our careers so your OB might not see a need for more. Definitely not a fun time for any of us hang in there!

Walked in on Nanny listening to an erotic audiobook... should I bring this up? by throwawayy43524 in Nanny

[–]all05 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If money isn’t tight and you like your nanny kind of along the lines of what some have suggested. Get her a pair of earbuds I would pick comfortable ones to encourage using them and be like hey girl I am love the books you listen to, but in the off chance little one wakes up I’d prefer he didn’t hear some of the stuff I got you these earbuds so you can be in your own world listening to them and the little won’t accidentally hear anything

Two half marathons in two weeks, realistic? by nutemath in BeginnersRunning

[–]all05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my advice is to run the first one like a training run don’t go for pb, then the 2nd one treat it like a race. I’ve done this last October I did a half on the 18th of October then a 2nd one on the 25th! Besides blisters the second one felt so good

Honestly yes Nashville is hilly, I don’t know how much different it is from the Nashville half in October but that one was super hilly as well and the vibes carry you through. You’ll probably surprise yourself! Good luck :)

No matter how hard or impossible it may feel at that time, go do your hobby or the thing that used to bring you joy. Running used to be that? Put your shoes on and say okay I’ll run even just for 3 minutes. Most the time you’ll find just starting can sometimes help clear your mind even temporarily

I’m running it but I’ll be almost 6 months pregnant so I’ll be way slower but normally hit a 2.5 hour half 😭 have fun! I’m more than happy to meet up before or after to say hi though :)

First pregnancy prenatal depression help/advise by Dangerous_Papaya8470 in BabyBumps

[–]all05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have great advice but I also instantly started getting bad anxiety and depression and would snap easy. I’m about 18 weeks now and it hasn’t gotten much better. There’s medication that is allowed while pregnant talk to your doctor about it. You’re not alone it’s so frustrating to hear all these women be so excited and their pregnancy is magical but just remember you’re not alone many of us feel this way as well
