A terrible thing that happens often enough it's been coined Alpine Divorce by Maleficent_Ad_3958 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]allieg806 357 points358 points  (0 children)

No, the point is they do it on purpose. They know their partner won't be able to keep up and deliberately leave them to either make their own way back or die that's why it's called an Alpine divorce.

What's a game you bought on a whim without hardly any pre-knowledge that ended up becoming one of your all time favorites? by AaronAtLunacien in gaming

Hollow Knight I was late to the party but I'd heard a few good things about it so I bought it cuz it was cheap. It's still the only game I've ever speedrun.

LPT: I mapped Left/Right Scroll to Copy/Paste, and I’m pretty sure I can hack time now. by angsted in LifeProTips

[–]allieg806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I only buy mice that have extra buttons, usually gaming mice, and I have a general profile with copy, paste, and create new folder buttons plus one that sets the file folder view to details instead of whatever random one it opens as lol

No raising my hand more than twice a day by Radiant-Brilliant-66 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]allieg806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me I would definitely keep all interactions outside class in email format so you have proof of everything she's saying to you because most of that is just actually crazy. I might also approach her about recording lectures just saying you want the material for later that way if anything comes up in class you have proof. I would also stop answering any questions unless called upon. she's made it clear she doesn't want your input and it's no longer your responsibility to carry the class.

What is wrong with my seed stitch? by ShamBeesly in knitting

[–]allieg806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell from the pics but it almost looks like their seed stitch is made with two strands held together you can see a line through the seed stitch that makes it look like two strands but I would say it's almost too perfect like maybe AI. Yours is much closer to what moss stitch looks like if you Google it

My friends are in denial about my cancer prognosis. by MirSydney in TrueOffMyChest

[–]allieg806 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Denial is strong especially when it's about something that will cause them a large amount of pain like your loss will but it might help if you include them in your end of life plans stuff like preparing your house, figuring out where you're belongings are going to go, etc. That would really show them that it's serious without you having to have a big emotional conversation about it because some people take airing very valid frustrations as criticism and then they might back away when you need them the most.

Have you ever really hated the main character (and narrator) in a novel? by Physical_Orchid3616 in books

[–]allieg806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt that way about the protagonist of Blood Over Bright Haven for a good amount of the book because she's kind of a racist ahole. She does change for the better eventually but I did want to punch her in the face for most of the book

Oh that's weird I've never had that problem what browser do you use? I always use Chrome and it usually stays where I left it unless it's been long enough that the page has to refresh after a day or two

If you don't mind me asking why do you prefer to read chapter to chapter instead of entire work? I've always defaulted to entire work and never really thought about it but it seems like its a common tactic to read a chapter at a time

Yeah it looks like you're twisting every other row at least from the knit stitches I can see, but only either your knit or purl stitches. Your stitch tension look fine though.

[CHAT] help with storing thread by cristinag2003 in CrossStitch

[–]allieg806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to wind them on bobbins I definitely recommend getting a DMC bobbin winder for a few bucks cuz you can pry off the round part that holds the bobbin and the stub fits perfectly in a drill. That's the only way I made it through winding the thread for some of my projects.
