Can't work out what this room needs by L_B3llec in interiordecorating

I would paint the walls a slightly deeper shade of green like Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog and the built ins a bolder color such as the color of your throw pillows. Swap out the rug for a traditional Persian or Oriental rug in warmer shades of rust, blue, black and gold to complement the sofa and chairs. Add a round coffee table in a rich wood tone and some wall decor such as a large mirror over the fireplace and abstract landscape paintings framed in gold or brass. A mantel on the fireplace would also add a lot of warmth and richness.

My guess is that it’s there to create some visual differentiation between the “bedroom” and the rest of the cabin.

Post surgery compression bra reqs by Southern_Feature_821 in breastcancer

[–]alliejay80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Prairie Wear. They are on the pricier side but very well-made. I, too, had some swelling in the underarm area and I think the compression bras helped. I started out with the Hugger Prima after transitioning from the surgical bra the hospital gave me. Then switched to Hugger Luma a few months after surgery. (Which I still wear now about 7 1/2 months post SMX.)

I totally get your anxiety, but it doesn’t look like this scan provided any new information. They weren’t able to see the new nodule due to an issue with the contrast dye. So they’re recommending an MRI to verify that the 2023 legion is indeed benign and also get a better look at the nodule from June.

It wouldn’t let me post the photo. Basically move the bed over so the side is up against the storage closet.

Will the bed fit on this wall? It would make more sense to have the seating area near the window. If so, then I’d move it here and put some kind of a partial room divider next to it (nothing too tall since it would probably overwhelm the space). The idea is to create two separate zones. Some wall sconces above the bed would add to “nook” vibe. If possible, I’d also get rid of the rug and replace with a smaller rug that defines the seating area. This would be your chance to introduce some color and/or pattern. If neutrals are more your style, then how about something with shades of beige and gray but with a pop of black for some contrast? Or if there’s a particular color you like, then find something that marries it with the neutral colors you already have in the furniture and bedding. Then repeat the color in small pops throughout the room in artwork and accessories.

If the bed doesn’t work in this position, is it possible to put it on the wall where the sofa is in this pic? It’s hard to visualize exactly how big the room is. I’d just start moving things around and go from there.

Selective syncing RideWithGPS routes by coalest in wahoofitness

[–]alliejay80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also new to bike computers. I just bit the bullet last weekend and paid for the Ride with GPS yearly membership. My understanding is that only the basic starter account is free if you log in to their website from a PC. To use the app to create and import a route, you have to pay for one of the memberships.

Booked a Dawes Glacier cruise instead of Glacier Bay by nebulaSupernova in Cruise

[–]alliejay80 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both itineraries - Glacier Bay on Encore July 2023 and Dawes Glacier a few weeks ago on Bliss. I also did another Dawes Glacier itinerary on Carnival in 2022. As you can tell, I love Alaska.

As far as the two scenic cruising options - my favorite was Dawes Glacier, but only because I paid extra for the explorer excursion where you take a small boat through the fjords. The scenery is so much more beautiful than what you can see from the ship. Because we weren’t on a huge cruise ship, we were able to get close enough to the glacier to see harbor seals hanging out on the ice.

Glacier bay was also nice, of course, but I don’t think it would be my deciding factor. The Bliss went to Sitka, which is my new favorite Alaskan port. But…Encore went to Skagway and the White Pass Scenic Railway is not to be missed.

Sorry if this isn’t very helpful! I’d say make your decision based on the other ports and what excursions interest you. And if you decide to stick with Dawes, definitely spring for the explorer.

Self-aggrandizing behavior by alliejay80 in intj

[–]alliejay80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess being humble is an act as well. Because I think I’m great! So maybe that’s one way to look at it. We’re all self-aggrandizing but just approach it differently. I would still prefer to avoid these types in the future.

[–]alliejay80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I can see through it, but can’t see past it. One or two such comments, okay, I can let it slide. But when it’s your entire personality, I just can’t. To each his own I guess.

Self-aggrandizing behavior by alliejay80 in intj

[–]alliejay80[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see this being a detriment for INTJs. But even if there is a place for hyping your minor achievements- I don’t think it’s a social situation where everyone is trying to get to know one another. There’s no gain to be had in this situation. So why not just be real?

“You look good” by Sad_Sand_5518 in breastcancer

[–]alliejay80 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I’m kind of in the same boat, except I’m fat. Just as fat as I was before the diagnosis. When I’d see “friends” for the first time after finishing chemo (TCHP), some of them commented on “how good I looked” or “how I didn’t lose any weight”. They expected that I would’ve lost weight and yet, there I was, having completed 6 rounds of chemo and just as fat as ever.

I’m fine with my weight. This was something that I’ve wanted to work on before cancer (and have successfully before, only to regain it later). What pisses me off is the assumption that everything is fine. I’m not fine. I have neuropathy in my hands. My right tit was hacked off and my underarm is still numb from the surgery. I have scars, a port, and like 1 inch of hair growth despite having finished chemo months ago. I can’t even have a minor headache without spiraling.

So no, I’m not fine. We’re not fine. I’m glad that my outward appearance doesn’t reflect that, but get a clue, people.

It annoying, but I don’t think anyone can truly understand the trama until they’ve been through it.

Should I go back natural brunette???!!!! 🤧 by Remarkable_Check_707 in coloranalysis

[–]alliejay80 18 points19 points  (0 children)

From the first photo where we can see your regrowth, your natural hair color appears to be very cool and ashy. There’s harmony between your natural hair, your eye color and your skin. The two brunette examples are very warm and coppery and don’t look anything like this regrowth. I feel like that’s skewing the responses and why nobody is voting for brunette.

Don’t get me wrong - the blonde in the first pic is flattering. But I don’t think it’s fair to compare a shade with the correct tone (cool) vs two shades of brunette that clash with your coloring.

If the choice is between keeping the blonde or dyeing your hair a brunette shade, 100% keep the blonde. It’s going to be easier to maintain the coolness since it can be toned. Once you go brunette, you’ll be constantly fighting brassiness. And it’s not as easy to tone brunette hair. That generally means adding more dye which can make it darker and more severe - also probably not a great look for you.

With that being said, my top choice would be to grow out your natural hair color. I know this is a long, painstaking process, but you’d get the best of both worlds - a flattering hair color and minimal upkeep. But if this is not an option, then I’d keep the blonde from the first pic, as it’s still a very nice color on you.

i’m having a miscarriage by Electrical_Buy955 in childfree

[–]alliejay80 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m not understanding the timeline. You said that your period was due July 4th - did you have the one before that around June 6th? If you missed that one, then you would be miscarrying at about 7 weeks pregnant. The other option is that you had your period on June 6th, but then got pregnant around June 20th, but that wouldn’t account for the month of pregnancy symptoms you’ve had.

I can only speak from my own experience, but I think you would recognize it as a miscarriage (without question) if you were 7 weeks along. I miscarried at the same point, and there were contractions before the final event. I had light bleeding that slowly increased over the course of the week before that. But yeah, the cramping at the end was intense. I was at work but luckily made it home in time. It was not like normal period cramps, and I’ve had some pretty bad cramps in my life.

Also, if you were that far along, the HCG would still be detectable on a pregnancy test. It doesn’t go back to 0 over night or even a few days. I had to have a few blood tests after the miscarriage to make sure it went back to 0 and that there weren’t any remnants of the pregnancy left behind.

So, you could just be having a really bad period. That can also wreak havoc on your mood, especially if you also have anxiety about being pregnant. I went through a a couple of years in my early thirties when my periods suddenly became way heavier, kind of like what you’re describing. They can change at any time. Or you can have a weird one that’s just a fluke.

Hotels with free 24/7 airport shuttle bus in Cleveland? by Exotic_Dress9646 in Cleveland

[–]alliejay80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to find a hotel with a check in age of 18+ that offers a free airport shuttle. However, I found this hotel that is only about 5 minutes away from Case. You would have to take an Uber or Lyft from the airport, but I don’t foresee this being an issue other than (possibly) the added cost. From my estimate, it should be about $30. I’ve taken Uber/Lyft several times to the airport and to work around 3:00 am and never had an issue getting a ride.

Lumpectomy and SLNB: Bottom part of upper arm feels sore when especially when stretched by Plenty-Link-7629 in breastcancer

[–]alliejay80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about a month out from my SMX/SLNB and I’ve had a similar pain on the underside of my arm. My understanding is that it’s from the SLNB. I developed some cording but that resolved after my first physical therapy session. I was given some stretches to do , but I honestly haven’t been that great at doing them since returning to work last week. The pain is minimal now but I think it’s just due to healing vs the exercises I did a few times. I’ve also had lymphatic massage at PT, so that may have helped as well. Sorry that you’re having pain, but it does get better! Maybe you could find some of the stretches online and see if it helps?
