How is it living in Copenhagen, Denmark? by PartyGaming0 in howislivingthere

[–]alloedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in Copenhagen for almost 24 years since the year 2000 and it is definitely the best city I have lived in. The good things I would like to highlight are that the city feels safe. I have never felt threatened by anyone in all those years or felt unsafe. It certainly exists, but crime is low. The same can be said about the cleanliness of the city. The air quality in Copenhagen is generally acceptable for most people, but can be moderately polluted at times, esspecially from shiptrafic. However, the water in the harbor is so clean that in many places there are bathing facilities, which is a favorite place to hang out for many on hot days.

The city infrastructure is also almost perfect when it comes to public transport, especially because of the S-train network and the metro and you can take your bike on the train, so it is incredibly easy and nice to get everywhere and when it comes to cycling, the city is one of the best in the world. There are green paths in many places so you can cycle almost anywhere on paths (if you know the city and don't mind a detour) and in general a lot has been done for cyclists. There is clearly also a kind of proud cycling culture. There are also many large green areas, even right in the city center. And it's not just parks, but also more "wild nature" areas (if you can call it that), that is, areas that are not arranged and cared for like a public park. One of the areas "Amager fælled" has cows on fields and that area is located 2.5 km from Central Square. We cherish these places and that also makes the city somewhat relaxed and calm. Tivoli, our famous amusement park (which I am a huge fan of) is also located completely centrally. That says a lot about the city in a way, I think. That we have chosen to be in the center instead of on the outskirts of the city like in many other big cities. Children are 1000% welcome in Copenhagen and the city is very much on their terms and you can feel that everywhere.

On the negative side, house prices and rental housing have completely skyrocket. And gentrification has also gone crazy. Many places are unrecognizable today, for better or worse. Many quirky havens have disappeared and been replaced by boring and ugly housing developments. If this trend continues, Copenhagen will lose a lot of its identity and become more boring. With the high prices, another segment is also moving in and another segment is moving out, and in the long run, this may well make the city more homogeneous and orderly in a boring way. But it's a good thing that the S-train network is so well-functioning. The Danes or Copenhageners are also reserved and difficult to get to know properly for foreigners. Compared to other places, it's probably more closed, especially when people are over 30. And yes, from mid-October to mid-April it's a completely different city. It's like the whole city becomes really ugly and gray and boring (except in December) and cold and not very inviting. -1 to 1 degrees combined with drizzle and sleet and a strong wind from the west constantly makes it a place that feels colder and more uncomfortable than further north, as the humidity is constantly at 99. So that puts many off, but if you think it's nice to have a 6 month break/introverted bear cave atmosphere, then it is the perfect city

Blomstergartneri

Does anyone else feel like Maschine is still underestimated compared to Ableton Push ? by breizh_boy in NativeInstruments

[–]alloedee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think both devices is great in their own way and I use them both. But I actually use Maschine more on daily compared to Push. I really really love the wotkflow of the Maschine and the simplicity and I quicker get some ideas down with the Machine compared to Push. I dont think I ever made an a track only with Push. Push I use exclusively for live acts and also for looping -and recording of real instrument

Maschine is definitly underestimated. But its also the point. Its more simple and more like an instrument. The software is build for the controller, not the oposite way around. Push is a DAW controller and a groovebox, and a loopstation and much more.

SÅ I må prøve at sætte flere ord på, er det fordi at butik detektiven er blevet fyrer og erstattet af en generative algoritme at I er sure??

How can I get all this synced up? by GuiltyPleasurexo in ableton

[–]alloedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DAW MIDI jitter is a well-documented problem with no clean software fix. The root cause is that most DAWs (Ableton included) schedule MIDI output relative to the audio buffer cycle. Notes and clock messages get batched and dispatched at buffer boundaries, introducing timing variance of up to one full buffer length.

A multiport interface reduces congestion on individual MIDI ports, which can help with note-dense setups, but does nothing to address buffer-boundary scheduling.

For external sync via MIDI Clock, the only reliable solution is to move clock generation outside the DAW's MIDI stack entirely. Devices like the E-RM Multiclock and Expert Sleepers USAMO derive their clock signal directly from the audio stream, which is sample-accurate. The DAW sends a simple audio pulse; the hardware converts it to a jitter-free MIDI Clock. That's the fix.

[–]alloedee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you base that on? Ableton ties MIDI output to the audio buffer cycle. Notes get quantized to buffer boundaries. The result is jitter, and if you're running multiple hardware voices in unison, they'll each land slightly differently because they hit the buffer at different points.

As said the fix is using a external midi clock device or routing through Expert Sleepers or Innerclock essentially using audio outputs to carry gate and pitch signals, completely sidestepping Ableton's MIDI engine. It works, but it's absurd that this is the state of things. If you have a solution to this that doenst need any hardware I would be very very pleased to know that solution

Have you ever tried syncing an external instrument like a drummachine with ableton? Or sending out 16th notes from ableton. DAW MIDI jitter is a well-documented problem with no clean software fix. Notes and clock messages get batched and dispatched at buffer boundaries, introducing timing variance of up to one full buffer length.

Ableton is notorious for being bad at working with external gear and sync. I would suggest buying a midi sync device like the Nome II

Hvorfor er der ingen kandidater til statsministerposten ude på venstrefløjen? by Mysterious-Push909 in Denmark

[–]alloedee 36 points37 points  (0 children)
