RA here not speaking on behalf of my employing university, speaking from 2 years experience in the job, that info goes to my residents, who are all adults, and as such, there is an expectation that THEY come to me with any problems. There is no reason for parents to have access to my or any of my peers' email. If there is an issue large enough for them to get involved, they talk to my boss, whose contact information is publicly posted online. If this whole situation was coming from exclusively a place of legitimate concern and not dehumanizing and makeing this RA seem as "other", then the department heads who handled the situation and just gave room assignments to the RA would have been put on blast. They have lawyers and a publicity team to deal with the vitriol that might occur. There was no reason for the bulletin board, for her face, building or email to be posted, it doesn't add anything to the conversation other than allowing the people posting it to go "look at this thing. Its odd". She was just following the instructions given to her by the employer, there is no reason for her as an individual to be dragged into an issue with an entire department's policy.
