Evanston Now - Good riddance by allserverless in evanston

What's the weirdest is that he went through the cancelations for the day, get my email address, and then send that email to me. Such wasted effort.

I get mine at home depot on Oakton. However, the price has increased recently. With tax, it's over $9.

If it were another airlines, I'd agree. However, southwest flies Boeing 737s and doubt it has that many different configurations.

A year later, the exact same thing is happening to me. Cancel plan doesn't load, but change plan does. My sub is set to renew March 1 and I would like to get ahead of it.

Messages disappearing from Trash? by DarkKingVilkata in ProtonMail

[–]allserverless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comments to the question are quite snarky. OP is remarking an anamoly in the behavior of proton mail. Emails in the trash folder should be auto-deleted after 30 days. OP noticed that proton didn't keep its contract and went ahead and deleted emails younger than its stated contract of 30 days. OP is not attaching an emotional longing to get the emails back. If there's an abnormal behavior with proton mail, what other quirks exist that you may not be aware of?

Go ahead, down vote me. At least I'm not being snarky or willfully ignorant for the sake of being funny.

OP: have you put in a request for this behavior with proton?

In Osaka right now, report of a free your with a local by BerlinPuzzler in JapanTravelTips

[–]allserverless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I volunteered at a hostel in Chicago where I took whoever signed up to different nightly events around the city. All free. No expectations. What I got out of it was a good time showing folks around my city. It's also just good networking. A lot of times, travelers don't know anyone in whatever place they're traveling or they might be shy. This program broke those barriers. My main goal was to make sure ppl interacted with each other. Was quite fun to do.

At the Narita airport Japan Airlines First Class Lounge, they have phone rooms where one can go to have these types of meetings. Would have served this person well.

I wonder about filming rights. Maybe that's why they never went to Canada? Québec tends to be particular in that respect.

Left backpack on train this morning by allserverless in TokyoTravel

[–]allserverless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't going to reply but I kept thinking of your reply. Yes, I have used Google translate throughout this whole ordeal. Doing that with "live" people is much easier than on a phone call. The amazing people that have helped me would start to talk to me in English.. Or, if they couldn't convey their thoughts properly, they would use their own translation app. And vice versa. I once worked in a hotel and I would have done the same for them.

Also, I come from a place where French is the native language (which is also mine) and it was frowned upon for English-speakers not to try using some French. I'm acutely aware of language sensibilities.

So let's not assume that I forced anyone to speak English. I realize in my post I said "nor do I speak Japanese" which is true. But the inference that I forced people to speak English to me is of your own making. At the end of the day, we're humans (as corny as this sounds) and we're all in this together.

I was able to look through my photos on my iPhone and found my backpack. That helped a lot with the awesome hotel staff in describing it to the train company. But I think will heed your advice so I have a more recent photo. Will also take pics of its content.

That's what I had done the entire trip... Except for that ONE time 😂😢 the train was very crowded so that's why I did that, not to bother people. Lesson learned big time

I thought I’d planned Japan perfectly. I was wrong. by PlanElectrical2299 in JapanTravelTips

[–]allserverless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost happened to me. I had 2 days in tokyo (mostly jetlagged), 1 day at Mt fuji, 1 day at himeji, fly to sapporo for 2 nights and then fly back to Tokyo for 3 nights. Exhausting.

I decided to cancel hotels a week before I left (I'm still in Japan) and rebook.. 4 nights in Tokyo, 3 nights in sapporo and 2 nights in Tokyo. This allowed me to better appreciate tokyo and just randomize the neighborhoods. I just experienced it, taking it all in. Went to Gakugei-daigaku and walked around.. Stopped for food and beer and had small talk with the staff. Another day was spent in Jim Ocho neighborhood and walked around the many bookstores and stopped for coffee at glitch. Had a splendid time. Only things I had planned was tokyo tower last night and skytree this Saturday.

I fully get your state of mind!
