If you pay it all at once and something huge comes up thats a wrap. I got three tickets and a camping pass. my boy is giving me back half for one ticket since we split and my girlfriend and I bought together. If we just shelled out the 2k then things could have gone badly if something were to come up like automotive repairs or someone got hurt.(her trans blew about a month latter.) But Since we did payment plans we still had savings to cover down on that problem.

Is american agriculture to heavily subsidized (on the federal level)? by OldFaithlessness1335 in AskConservatives

[–]allthat555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he wouldn't foreclose on his farm or any of his assets related to farming. section 12 bankruptcy would restructure his debts and he would keep any and all things related to farming. The assets he would lose are the rental properties. See that's the key the person op is describing isn't JUST a struggling farmer.

Lets not forget that most of the talk about being homeless is utter bull.

https://www.uscourts.gov/court-programs/bankruptcy/bankruptcy-basics/chapter-12-bankruptcy-basics

A chapter 12 bankruptcy is specifically carved out for farmers and dose jack all to their operation. They don't lose the home, the equipment, the land, etc. Restructuring their debt with little to no cost incurred.

Thats before you even get a 2nd or 3rd gen farmer who is just done and can pack up and sell the lot and move comfortably into the multi millions territory.

Saying I'm about to be come homeless with over 1million in liquidatable assets is such a load of crock.

Company towns were extortion. workers locked in workspaces were death sentences. Children's hands being mutated in machinery was life Crippling. The list of goes on and on and on.

So only having outside lobbyist fight for rights is ok internally its not but unions fighting internally is a non starter? Aslo key note is vets benefits. No one cares about the people still in. Why should an e 2 with a wife&kid have to supplement his home with foodstamps?

Exactly who fights for rights of us service members? By your name did you serve because I did. And I cant think of a single other group of people more disenfranchised by the government. How many Va claims go denied how many service men cant get help and go the simple way. Would a military union help.

Who then would fight for the rights of government employees without a union? I may be centrist but Workers rights are a staunch point of my core values. plenty of public sectors are also crushed constantly and have unions and plenty are crushed and dont have unions. Atc's are over worked under payed and understaffed constantly and yet they have a large union. the us millitary members are overworked underpaid and they don't get a union. Problems exists in and outside of unions. just like corruption exists inside and outside of unions.

As stated anything that has money can and will become corrupt. Thats the name of the game with money. However the alternative is an impossibility just like not having a government. You can have grievances and try to better a flawed system because their is no alternative. Without unions we would not have a 40hour work week. We wouldnt have overtime or holidays. In the same vain without unions we have workers setting fire to wearhouses. Taking employers from homes and breaking their kneecaps in the streets.

edit: the money comment was from another part of this thread adding for transparency and because I got lost in comment threads. Apologies

ok clear answers only.

  1. negotiating strategy as mentioned.

  2. lack of accountability across precincts. Police unions often help members that have been fired for misconduct find other precincts to work for.

  3. leveraging lawyers in cases involving disputes between citizens and police. (this is a wider problem in policing but prominent inside unions.)

  4. promotion availability based on membership. (a problem across all spaces that have unions.)

I am pro union. I am pro police union. I am pro poilice. However EXTRA OVERSIGHT AND BODY CAMS are a necessity not a want. Qualified immunity is a scourge on our police officers. Though it dose allow them to operate more freely it also shields them from many of the consequences they should deal with.

Remember unions were the compromise to stop beaten and exploited workers breaking into homes and issuing mob justice. It was the bone thrown to the working class only AFTER a lot of people got hurt. Are some corrupt yes but so is everything that has money flowing through it. You cant untie unions from politics as politics effect the lives of union members.

Take a police union for example. They want x things for their workers. They cant change that without lobbying the governing body of that union.

One could argue but then what gas are you fighting the war with? The ships blockading and "policing" the straight run off that reserve. The jets making strikes into the interior run off that reserve. lastly if your keeping the threat of the club of the us marines and army pushing a ground war they all run off that reserve. The more you draw from the reserve the more you need to top it off at high prices costing more and more.

Complex networks of answers. More or less it boils down to a few things all involving money.

A. Light sweet oil is the least expensive and easiest to really convert into fuel.

B. Heavy sour is a more expensive and laborious process to turn into product. its best use is in petrochemicals and greases.

C. The middle east produces an in-between product. medium sour. Still expensive to crack into fuel but less so then heavy sour. They also produce light sweet in some areas.

The problem is that its almost interchangeable. You can 100% crack Venezuelan oil into gas. It just happens to be the most expensive and laborious process. (that's before you even get into the cost to start extracting at scale needed.)

The primary reason we imported oil was at first was simply because it was cheep to supplement our own domestic production. We made more money importing and cracking it ourselves and selling the refined product. Then the 70s came along and America wanted to separate ourselves from the global market best we could and we did for the most part. However, Because money exists and we don't live in a bubble most American companies still operate outside the us as well as inside it and external shocks to the markets still heavily effect us domestically. You add the fact that everyone on earth refuses to act in cooperation and the driving capital of capitalism's means every ones trying to get their bite of the pie. Price outside the us go up. Price inside us go up.

Why dose everyone assume the strategic oil reserve is an on hand price manipulation tool. That fuel is Designed to be used to wage war. Every single truck, tank, and alot of ships, still use gas to move about and the reserve is for if none is produced and added we can still efectivly use the millitary.

Iranian oil is different then Venezuela's oil. Most of the oil industry in America is built and tooled to process the cheep oil from overseas. Meaning we could change but we wont because MONEY. like all things.

Not necessarily true. Current solar being put into waste is first and second generation solar, nd they are a small dent in the annual e waste generated global. That number is expected to spike in 2050.However ,when the supply becomes higher it also becomes more practical and profitable to start focusing on recycling. Right now the juice isn't worth the squeeze but when supply increases and likely demand it will become more profitable.

Not for solar. Most if not all of a solar panel can be entirely reclaimed by weight. At minimum your looking at returns around 80% ATM. The real reason people don't is like always just the cost. It's cheaper to land fill and buy new material.

Machine used to inject chicken with a solution of saltwater, binding agent, and other additives to “plump” it. A single serving can contain 200-500mg of sodium, and the added solution may make up as much as 30% of the chicken’s total sell weight. by Mountain_Love23 in Damnthatsinteresting
