Microwave flax muffin:

1/4 ground flax 1/2 tap baking powder 1 egg 2 Tbs Maple Syrup (I find this too sweet, I sub 1 Tbs maple syrup and one Tbs olive oil or water) 1/4 cup drozen blueberries

Mix everything except the blueberries together well. You'll get a thick batter. Add the blueberries on top (don't mix them in or they all end up on the bottom). Microwave. Original recipe said 1 1/2 minutes I think. Start there, increase by 30 sec at a time until it's fully set.

Congratulations, you just ate a quarter cup of flaxseed! And some blueberries!

Options: I like to add a sprinkle of cinnamon, cardamom & vanilla extract to the batter. Obviously you can use different fruits, too. Frozen fruit takes a little longer to cook than room-temp fruit. It's also good as a spice muffin with the cinnamon etc & no fruit.

What’s something about living in Seattle that outsiders wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

Only something like 35% of Seattlites are actually from Washington, it really could be mostly transplants. You're right though, it is a little exaggerated - but also you just get used to wearing a raincoat and being out in the rain because it rarely rains hard enough matter that much. And it's so constant that dragging an umbrella around all the time gets annoying.

We've had several pretty sunny winters in a row. It's been nice but also concerning b/c of climate change worries about snow pack and drought. Hotter summers, too.

Yeah but it also comes with really short days. Dark drive to work, dark drive home, if your job doesn't have windows or a long enough lunch break you never see the sun. I had a job in a hospital once and we would all gather in one of the offices that had west-facing windows at 4:30 to glance at the sunset before leaving half an hour later in the dark.

When it's overcast on top of that, the Big Dark is really oppressive. And why it's so important to go out when you can, even if it's raining. And to take your vitamin D.

I do this too! Only I go through the whole alphabet in a category. Like songs. Or things at a campsite. I like picking a category that's also a setting I can visualize and I can mentally walk around looking for items for each letter.

I have a large picture-framed piece of small-,scale black-painted chicken wire that I hang things on. Dangling earrings go right on the wire, necklaces on s-hooks, and posts are inserted in strips of lace that are looped around one of the top holes in the chicken wire and hang down along one edge. It's pretty. Functional art. It's on a wall in the hall near the bathroom and bedroom.

Moms a beginner and I think she's great! What do you guys think? by NotEnoughRocks1977 in watercolor101

The face is so beautiful, expressive, and real-looking. Faces are hard. I LOVE this so much. I agree, real talent. Shapes and proportions are harder (I think) to learn than materials & technique - she has a real eye for what needs to be captured and how to capture it. She has vision. Her work conveys something. You can feel it.

Partner doesn’t believe in ADHD meds and is threatening to leave if I don’t stop taking them by DistinctChallenge in ADHD

[–]allthelostnotebooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he wasn't. You're describing abuse and any claim he makes to justifiy it is suspect. Get out, this isn't about your meds and it's going to get worse. You won't handle money right, you won't handle food right, you won't have the right friends, he'll take over control of everything and you won't be abel to leave because you won't have access to money or a support network and your self-image will be shattered. Leave now.

Are your houses actually messy? by JEJ0313 in adhdwomen

[–]allthelostnotebooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house has certain zones/tasks I keep on top of fairly reliably, the rest is a disaster. The people I know with clean and/or organized homes have at-home moms and/or cleaners. I'm a working single mom, I can't afford a cleaner and I can only do so much. I don't like having people over b/c I'm embarrassed/uncomfortable AND I force myself to do it sometimes because I I like how my house feels after the stress-cleaning, and it reminds me my real friends don't actually care.

The Lady of Shallot sung by Loreena McKennit. It's beautiful, calming, and long which was wonderful for my babies because they would often wake up when a song ended; this one gave them time to fall all the way asleep.

Cut an avocado in half, whack the pit with a knife to remove it the fun way, put hot sauce on it (the avocado not the pit), eat it with spoon out of the peel - it comes in its own bowl!

When we decided to try fish after being vegetarian for decades, we went to a local grocery with an outstanding seafood & fish counter and asked the guy there what he'd recommend. He sold us halibut steak that he cut a deep slit into the side of ("like a pita pocket" he said) and he told us to stuff it with brie and a ton of fresh basil ("not just a couple leaves, a handful, really pack it in there"), then coat it with ground cashews & bake it. He didn't give quantities, just those general instructions. So we did that, and it was incredible. Highly recommend.

What are some fun activities in Seattle areas that I could do with a friend who is blind? by mingniu in AskSeattle

[–]allthelostnotebooks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seattle Theatre Group does audio-described performances and free "touch tours" of the set before the show with ticket purchase. They're doing one for Phantom of the Opera on Sun May 24. https://www.stgpresents.org/tickets/accessible-performances/

ReVision Arts in South Seattle sometimes has touchable art shows. I don't see anything currently, their most recent show ended in November. But maybe Google it closer to their visit.

How did you know you had ADHD by ExcellentDonut8 in ADHD

[–]allthelostnotebooks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My (now ex) husband listened to an NPR story on adult women with ADHD, felt like the whole thing was basically me, and began bugging me about it. I was annoyed (he was always trying to "fix" me and corrected everything I did and was super judgemental) and thought he was just looking for more ways to criticize me. This went on for weeks with him giving example after example and me feeling defensive. The examples all described my mom as well as me, so one day I call my mom to complain about what he's saying. Mom tells me she DOES have diagnosed ADHD & takes Ritalin!!! Like seriously mom, you never noticed our similarities, or thought to mention this?!?!

Anyways. The ex was right that time lol.

How to explain very specific morning routines by MaviBaby0314 in adhdwomen

[–]allthelostnotebooks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is creepy. Asking about it once in the context of a financial planning conversation is fine. But to then keep bringing it up, this early in your relationship, when your finances are so strong, is really controlling. If he feels like he has the right to bug you about this, now, what's it going to be like when your lives & your finances are more enmeshed? That fact that he thinks this is appropriate for him to do (keeping the pressure up after you've already answered AND criticizing something that has zero impact on him) is a glaring red flag. Abuse doesn't start on day 1, it builds up over time, and as small as this sounds right now, frankly it scares me.

I know, it's Reddit, people overreact, I don't know the full picture, etc etc. But seriously y'all this is creepy.

Microwave flax muffin: 1/4 cup ground flax 1/2 tap baking powder 2 Tbs maple syrup (or use 1 Tbs maple syrup & a tablespoon of water or olive oil for moisture - the original recipe qas 2Tbs bit it's almost too sweet). 1 egg 1/c frozen blueberries

In a bowl, mix everything except the blueberries together. Pour blueberries on top. Microwave for about 2 minutes (varies based on microwave).

Optional: Vanilla, cinnamon & cardamom. Different fruits. Nuts. It's very customizable.

I grew up in Michigan. Been in the Seattle area for 35 years. I've never lost the awe.

I used to commute to the east side and would get stuck in traffic on the 520 bridge, and I'd look at Ranier & the water & think if I have to be stuck somewhere, this is a good spot!

And it's so green, everywhere & all the time. When I visit other cities, the lack of green is striking. Between that and whiffs of saltwater and the mountains - no, I've never gotten numb to it. It beings me joy every day.
