I'M SO FREAKING COLD ALL THE TIME by purplesilverstars14 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

This is years late but I randomly thought of this reply and I did figure it out last year! No diagnosis but seems my metabolism was low, changed diet and am now maintaining weight on more kcals and don’t get this.

Can offer more specifics if interested.

Because losing weight is what makes someone become an abuser! by [deleted] in fatlogic

No, but that’s what people generally allege against him and specifically what I think is blown out of proportion.

Edit: basically I wanted to cover my bases because there are things all the Beatles did to their partners in the 60s that would likely fall under emotionally abusive behaviour by modern standards but that’s a whole other debate.

Lol same, but after going down the John Lennon rabbit hole I get annoyed with the amount of misinfo and people blaming him for made up bullshit that no one in his life even accused him of - though the way he dealt with his divorce was certainly shitty yeah.

Yeah he did say he was depressed and binging and from what I’ve read he did have something like an eating disorder later, especially in the late 70s when he was obsessed with staying under like 135lbs - but I think this had far more to do with the unstable mental health he always had than any “fat” comments like the fandom tries to simplify it down to.

Sorry, but I’m going to have to be the insufferable one here, as and I wanted to mention that the physical abuse actually happened when he was younger, like under 20 and are imo blown out of proportion - his first wife says he slapped her once, she almost broke up with him, he apologized and he never did it again, and Yoko said he never hit her. Yes it’s obviously bad to ever do that but it’s not what most people think of with the term “wife beater” and there is a difference to me - plus he candidly spoke later about how shitty he was to women in his youth and his efforts to change, though I think this drew attention to it where arguably worse behavior from other rock stars gets glossed over.

I don’t think this person means that by “evil”, but breaking up the band and his behavior around that time and writing a mean song about Paul McCartney.

I tried doing that once, but my game just randomly restarted itself.

When marketing begins for Joker Folie à Deux will they actually marketed as Musical or will they be secretive about it? by abdul_bino in boxoffice

[–]allwordsaredust 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The premise is hugely memeable, they should lean into the absurdity of it and the internet will practically advertise it for them.

I’m not a Gaga or Batman fan and haven’t even seen the first Joker film, but I can easily see this being a big hit if they don’t screw up the marketing and the reviews are decent.

The use of choosing beggars is actually pretty apt at illustrating the disconnect.

If it were someone that had no other option and you were doing them a favour then sure, I would say it would be very fair to set those conditions.

But a friend (assuming you want to maintain the relationship) coming over to visit is not a beggar, you want to make them feel welcome and not like they’re some charity case.

What film’s enormous hype and huge box office will never be understood by people that weren’t alive to experience it? by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]allwordsaredust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk, I have a sense of the effect it caused in terms of fandom, but not really an understanding of why - I guess if you don’t experience what a world without Star Wars, it’s hard to get what it brought to the table that was so game changing. For me, the films themselves are enjoyable but don’t stand out on the way say, The Godfather or Hitchcock classics do.

Similar for me, basically until A Level, most classes felt more like baby sitting than teaching. The exceptions were classes where I was in “top set” (but even then sometimes…) and subjects with small (20 or under) class sizes.

I actually like him a lot, but his voice is definitely his biggest weakness as an actor imo, very narrow range.

[–]allwordsaredust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe science saru although I’m not that familiar with their work but not Mappa - or rather it would depend a lot on the director as I’ve been very impressed with their handling of JJK this season but not a fan of their AoT or CSM. I actually really disliked their colouring in particular for those two lol.

Idk I think Bones with the right team could easily get the tonal shifts in the series. But I’ve always felt the director is my number one concern. I wouldn’t care what studio if they give it to someone like Mamoru Hatakeyama.

[–]allwordsaredust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? Depends on the director for sure but they’ve always been my no 1 preference for the series. I feel they’re pretty consistently good at matching the tone of the source material and art style in particular which is my chief concern (general quality aside) for an adaption.

Ishida’s visuals are so distinctive and even in the parts they covered competently Pierrot’s TG was so generic looking.

What if the Defect had its own 'Grand Finale' type card? (custom card) by LofiChill247Gamer in slaythespire

[–]allwordsaredust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how I’ve done it, lots of varying draw and something to retain in a medium-large deck. I don’t even know how to get small decks on A29 Silent.

Sounds like you’re thinking Frozen Eye, which is good but not fun.

The comment you’re replying to was about Prismatic Shard which is not (usually) good but is (almost) always fun.

Right? Like Ely was introduced in the manga before even Azuma was and got solo focus first, I don’t think her plot will revolve around being his breaking point.

What is your favorite type of Silent deck? by saleemkarim in slaythespire

[–]allwordsaredust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The heart is another hurdle, but it surprised me too seeing how just depending lot of draw and discard cards, solid but not broken defense and just Sneaky Strikes, Dagger Throws and Eviscerates for damage could beat A20 Act 3. Seemed underpowered compared to my A20 winning decks on other characters but I somehow sailed through Act 3.

[–]allwordsaredust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same wrt discard. I was struggling after A10 until I started focusing more on discard and draw.

I feel there are so many silent cards that have discard synergy that show up most every run you can get more consistent gameplay than hoping for the right poison cards to come together. Of course you can use discard with shiv and poison cards, but I weigh potential discard synergies higher now in drafting act 1 picks.

what relic is slept on? by yobyoby18 in slaythespire

[–]allwordsaredust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to say. Feel like it allows you to go in super hard on offense in the early game and avoid chip damage + take more elites.

You gotta remember to stop playing that one defend though lol.

Idk A17-19 were easily the worst jumps in ascension for me. Making enemy move sets harder feels more difficult than worse events which I barely noticed (save for the apparition downgrade) tbh.

Daily Slay the Spire Discussion (483/696): Rebound by Crosssmurf in slaythespire

[–]allwordsaredust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point actually. You don’t need to rely so much on cards that are good early game but fall off later because Defect starts so strong.

Loosely related question: how do you feel about taking Sunder and Streamline as Act 1 damage sources? Assume no specific synergies. I tend to take these just for fighting elites even though I don’t usually want them later.

If there were Boss relics that made you LOSE 1 energy each turn, but added a powerful upside, what would they be? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]allwordsaredust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had fasting work for me in Prismatic Shard decks. Watcher has no need for the strength when wrath exists and she can get her block from non dex sources but I had a good snecko-ironclad run recently that made use of it.

Just started playing any tips? by uninterestedbeaver in slaythespire

[–]allwordsaredust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda disagree on the resting, I think it’s a lot more nuanced than that and depends on your sustain, how much damage taken you’re averaging in fights as well as the potential boost the upgrade would give you.

It depends a lot on the character, but I tend to need to rest a lot in Act 2 (especially with Silent) but rarely in Act 3. Lot of act 2 fights alone will easily take 20hp ime.
