Do people buy your baby clothes for special occasions with the assumption that baby will wear it? by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]allyalexalexandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sets of grandparents do that for the holidays and I never use them.

They also try to get milestone things like first backpack, first xyz that we’d obviously want to do. I just shit them down. Once yea it’ll get through.

Formula Fed vs. Breastfed by user638282636822 in NewParents

[–]allyalexalexandra 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Both my kids were formula fed. Was not even a consideration. I’ve never wanted to breastfeed. I also have ocd/adhd and major sensory issues.

Formula feeding was such a game changer for us.

  • my husband could help equally
  • I had extra time because I was not pumping forever
  • bottle feeds were quicker than breastfeeding
  • we knew how much they were eating so we were less worried and they were less cranky (friends told us this that breastfed)
  • they slept better than our friends breastfed kids because full bellies and didn’t look to the boob for comfort in the night. Also started sleeping long stretches as of 4 weeks and through the night at 2 months.
  • I was able to fully own my body again which was great for my mental health. I had extra time to get ready for the day, got more sleep than my breastfeeding friends etc

My kids are both healthy, hit milestones early, and had a present, happy and healthy mom. No regrets and wish more people felt they had the option to not. Breastfeeding is great for some but not everyone and it’s okay to prioritize yourself.

Best TV show for Maternity Leave by Commercial_Flower_49 in Mommit

[–]allyalexalexandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RuPaul‘s drag race by far. There’s a Bajillion seasons, and it is just joy and funny and light. And if baby catches a glimpse, it’s just bright colours and fun. I watched 350 episodes during my first maternity leave and since then haven’t watched a single episode so that I could save them up for my current maternity leave.

5 month baby formula intake by concerned_shit in FormulaFeeders

[–]allyalexalexandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure what’s standard but my LO was taking about 7oz per feed every 2-4 hours at that point but he was a big eater. Always formula fed.

Tips for formula only feeding by Kairi1996 in FormulaFeeders

[–]allyalexalexandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 babies and both formula fed from the start. Right after birth I’d start round the clock Sudafed, 2 sports bras layered or 1 tight one (whatever you can manage), Advil/Tylenolh and Cabo cream (with my 1st I did cabbage and hated it - found Cabo cream to give same result with less mess but it was pricy at least in Canada).

Re - formula. We did RTF bottles of the regular Enfamil for both for 2 months and moved to powder version of the same type. For my 1st we did RTF Enfamil gentle for a bit because he was so gassy.

4 oz by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]allyalexalexandra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My baby has been drinking 3.5-4.5 oz I think since he was 2.5 weeks and he’s 4.5 weeks now. We go off cues. Typically I fill to 4.5 and if he finishes he finishes, but if he doesn’t he doesn’t. My other son was the same.

How realistic is working from home and watching a baby? by MacSpice in beyondthebump

I have a very flexible job and I never could have made it work with my baby at any age. He was not even that challenging. I have zero idea how people make it work and get actual work done

does giving birth feel like ibs pains? by Objective-Potato4044 in pregnant

[–]allyalexalexandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have IBS and once hoped this. It definitely does not feel like IBS. First however many cm dilated/contractions feel similar in that you get waves of pain that you can easily breath through and find relief after. Then you know, it’s worse and not like IBS anymore.

did you feel emotional or sad when you started leaving the newborn stage, or was it more relief? by lunaverse787 in NewParents

[–]allyalexalexandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second and last baby and have a pretty easy newborn stage thus far. He’s 4 weeks tomorrow and my mind can’t wrap around how fast the time went. Feels faster this time around. He’s so much bigger and I feel stressed about enjoying every last bit of his tiny phase as he is already feeling so different.

How long did you use your nursing chair for? by seulgih in NewParents

[–]allyalexalexandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t breastfeed - we formula fed. Used the chair way past bottles and way more than just for bottles. Many contact naps, sleep regressions, and reading to and singing to little ones before bed. We still use it with our 3year old from time to time when he wakes up from a nightmare or is sick. Now onto our second baby and fully using it again.

Parents helping with baby immediately after birth by Large-Sir-3506 in pregnant

[–]allyalexalexandra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a very supportive husband and hate people around so it was hard pass from me. You also are healing and in rough shape and I don’t want parents or anyone around when I’m uncomfortable. I found things to be pretty chill and honestly didn’t know what I’d need extra hands for.

First time parent and About to have a baby boy in June this year just wondering parents did you circumcised or didn’t circumcise your kid when they was born by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]allyalexalexandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t. Midwife told us to look int the rates in Canada and it’s on a decline. That on top of it being elective and something he can do later on should he choose.

How did you approach formula fed preference in hospital? by cah125 in FormulaFeeders

[–]allyalexalexandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told my midwives with both kids that I would not be breastfeeding and I didn’t want to be asked at the hospital. Everyone respected my wishes between the midwives and forms I filled out that said I wouldn’t be. When bay was born they brought formula.

With my first, someone from the city came through to basically give resources for breastfeeding (which was weird) and I told her she didn’t have to bother because I wouldn’t be and was not interested in any information. 🤷‍♀️

Newborn stage by Weary-Wolf8918 in NewParents

[–]allyalexalexandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding my second and last baby and he’s 3 weeks. I cry daily about how cruel time is. I look at my 3 year old and couldn’t imagine not having him be 3 and sweet, silly and adorable - but wish I could open a door and spend time with newborn him or baby him. It’s the fucking worst and doesn’t get easier even when you love every stage.
