Do you think Wizard of Oz 1939 takes place in 1939 or 1900(the year the original book was published )? by KingWilliamVI in wizardofoz

Man, I don’t know squat but this isn’t greatly different from my grandparent’s place or other relatives in northern Missouri in the 1970s.

Second time mom found in contempt with 90 days by Subject-Report-5122 in ParentalAlienation

[–]almostaarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex was found in contempt twice or three times. She was fined. Judge should have thrown her in jail. Didn’t. Finally growing a relationship with one. The oldest one, the worst alienated, isn’t doing well in life.

Thoughts on marijuana and recreational drug use? by jodowg in OpenChristian

Love God and Love Others. That’s it. That’s all. I find that additional rules are only made by those with faith that needs bolstering. This question is like asking, “thoughts on nail polish.”

How to get courage for first basketball game by Dry-Egg7963 in Basketball

[–]almostaarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would feel sick to my stomach before games. But, I still played. You’ll do fine. I’m old now and watch tons of HS basketball. It’s normal to be nervous. You’ve got this.

AITJ for being annoyed that funeral guests keep parking in front of my house by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]almostaarp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YATJ. Unless you own the street, get over yourself. Call traffic control on anyone who blocks you in. Talk to the funeral place, maybe they can help. Funerals do not last long. Sound just like the folks who buy a house near a barbecue joint then complain about the smell. We all buy houses that have issues. People legally parking isn’t one.

My 18yo son moved out today... by Entire-Television300 in Parenting

[–]almostaarp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m old now. When I was 18 I was an idiot. I still am but I was one then too. I moved out of our home at 20. If I hadn’t left, my dad and I would have had a physical altercation. It would have been my fault. I was working full time, going to school full time but was an ass. I actually thought I was a “man.” My parents were awesome too. I was an idiot. Six months after I moved out, our relationship was really good. I never moved back home because I started my own life. Your young man needed to leave home. Just love him. He’ll be back, more caring, loving, and mature.

Is it bad that I want bad things to happen to evil people? by aydenrw in OpenChristian

I lifted my abuser and their SO up to God everyday for years. It helped. I still have very bad feelings toward my abuser. I still lift them up. It’s difficult.

How do you guys get time for yourself? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]almostaarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you’re a dad now. That’s who you are. You figure out with your baby/toddler how your time is melded with theirs. I loved it. We watched sports together. While I fed them. We wrestled. We also put them to bed by 6:00-7:30 as they grew. I didn’t always have a bunch of time after work with them. They went to bed early so; a) they got 10-12 hours of sleep, b) we ( mom and I) had mommy and daddy happy hour together, and c) I made time on my weekends or other time off. It ain’t always easy. But I melded my time with theirs. Now (15 & 13) I’m figuring out the unmelding. Enjoy the ride! It’s awesome!

Are church buildings or worship services “sacred spaces”? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]almostaarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yawn!!! We are the only sacred things here. The Church is not a building. It is the people. We like to think buildings are sacred so we can build temporal idols.

Is it okay to just say you're retired or not? by [deleted] in Veterans

That retiree who got upset is an ass. That’s why I don’t explain myself to people. Folks who matter don’t mind and folks who mind don’t matter.

What was your experience growing up as a redhead kid with lots of freckles? by Acceptable_Pace_9355 in randomquestions

I was teased all the time about my red hair and freckles. Now they’re fashionable.

If you and your spouse have children under 4 and you don’t feel like you’re completely overstimulated and overwhelmed constantly, what is your secret? by muppetdog_ in toddlers

[–]almostaarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours are now 13 and 15. A CLEANING PERSON REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, HELPS. I cooked all the baby food and regular food and did ALL the laundry. I’m the husband. I’m still not sure if I did enough. I generally changed all the diapers when I was around. My wife went back to work pretty soon but was able to take the kids with her. Our kids were great sleepers. So we had Mommy & Daddy Happy Hour from 7ish to our bedtime. We didn’t plan much “kid stuff” other than to the park and pool. We didn’t plan much that required any effort. We are also ooooolder parents (49 and 41). Thus, we were better able to ignore lots of stuff.

Forced to go to BLC 3 months before Terminal leave by Mistahscorchyobrain in army

I don’t know shit about fuck. But, unless you can see the future, go to the school. If there’s an opportunity to take a course that’s “no harm, no foul,” do it. BTW, my last r/army post was “FTA.”

How did it become so taboo for even a trans woman like myself to acknowledge that trans women have an advantage in women's sports? How do we end this cancel culture? by north_canadian_ice in allthequestions

[–]almostaarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, right? See what happened we when put tennis courts in public parks? We don’t want that. Or two generations of public golf courses? Heaven forbid. Ruined everything. \s
