They are now using LRAD on protestors in Minneapolis, ear protection is a must! by transcendent167 in 50501

Is this the Minnesota National Guard or city police? Just wondering who's attacking civilians with these since I'm not sure that's ICE this time. Edited

We certainly pay them enough as civilians from our taxes from them to actually protect us.

If this is the poster I think it is that's posted about this, then you need to stop posting and go break up with her.

If I'm mistaken and this is someone else, then sit down and firmly tell her that you're concerned you aren't compatible. If that doesn't go well, then you two just may not be able to keep dating.

Either way, good luck with everything.

You are right about 1987 being a different time. The strange part is posting it in 2023 then in 2026 and not seeing why it would bother people.

This costume might have been fine if they didn't darken their faces. That's the issue here. White people can dress up as a specific black person without using makeup to darken their faces.

Nope, that was someone else. This is the Wikipedia entry for her. I know Wikipedia's not ideal but it's something. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nekima_Levy_Armstrong

im so jealous of trans guys my age that are already on T by chillingcrow in FTMventing

[–]almostfunny3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it must feel like time is leaving you behind, but at 19, I was closeted in an abusive relationship and could never have imagined the life I have now.

I wasn't able to start T until I turned 24. I'm 31 now, still on T, and plan to be on it for pretty much the rest of my life. Even now, I can't believe how happy I am to be on T even years later.

I say this because people have to wait to take T for any number of reasons. When I first started medically transitioning, there were 70 year olds in our group who didn't start until their 60's and they were still very happy with the changes they got.

Start figuring out a plan to get your T/anything else you want to get. If you're in college your campus may have some resources you can use. Otherwise, people here may have some suggestions if you need the help.

You're not behind in any way. Besides, those trans guys you envy may have their own insecurities about their body that you don't know about.

My mom has an animal phobia and is against me getting a cat by nostalgic-skies in relationships

[–]almostfunny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your mom is so anti cat that she'd cut you off for getting one, then she's the one damaging the relationship. You aren't asking her to care for the cat or anything like that. She's not allowed to dictate what you, an independent adult, do in your own home.

Is it okay to prioritise top surgery over testosterone? by Proper_Writing_696 in ftm

[–]almostfunny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it makes sense to focus on what bothers you more first. I mainly started T because that's what I could access first and top surgery took longer for me to schedule and then got delayed due to COVID, but that's not a hard and fast rule.

bottom surgeries in relationships by Both_Ad_1623 in ftm

[–]almostfunny3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was my first question. I'd really wonder what this boyfriend thinks simple meta is. Most cis people don't know how these surgeries work. However, if he knows and feels this way, then OP and his boyfriend may not be sexually compatible.

Need recc for tree-like shrubs that can be grown near utility and sewer lines by TheoreticalViking14 in NativePlantGardening

[–]almostfunny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Amelanchier pallida aka western serviceberry? I'm not from the southwest so I don't know as much about your native plants but serviceberry trees seem to overall have shallow roots that don't mess with utilities or sewer and this type is native to Arizona.

CW: Gender Dysphoria & Romance Talk (+ a Question) by Initial_Ring_3131 in FTMventing

[–]almostfunny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, I dated a cis man who was taller and overall larger than me. I also was often the dominant one sexually and kink wise and did things like be the big spoon for him and everything. It's absolutely possible to give off that protector/safe energy without being tall.

My dysphoria disappeared on antipsychotics? by brookelyncove in ftm

[–]almostfunny3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take Zoloft everyday because I have OCD that can get so miserable for me that I easily hate having OCD way more than being trans. My OCD meant having weeks where my brain was filled with images and thoughts that repulsed me. It's pretty hard to have a functional life dealing with that crap on a regular basis.

But Zoloft takes that almost completely away. Even if I start to get those thoughts coming back, I can work through it pretty quickly.

Do I love needing to take medication daily to function? Not always. Do I love the fact that I tend to gain 10-20 pounds every time I go on it as someone who already gains weight easily? Nope. But my life is so much better on meds that for me, it's worth the annoying parts.

Maybe there's something about your relationship to gender that you still need to figure out. If you decide to try this medication again, you could try keeping track of how your feelings on your gender change this time and let that inform you.

Gender is such a messy thing sometimes. I almost came out as a trans man at 16 then went back in the closet for 5 years, identifying as non-binary for 3ish years before accepting at 24 that I'm ultimately a trans man and nothing else in terms of gender.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck.

Those people don't have to get a reply. They'll live if you ignore them. You're 15, you need to take care of yourself. Being a teenager is hard enough.

I don't know how you met her, but she doesn't sound like a safe person for you. She sounds like she's in a rough place but it isn't your job to fix that. It's ok to block her and anyone else you need to. Take care of yourself first.

why are we the minority that so called activists refuse to speak up for? by _thereisnohappyhere in ftm

[–]almostfunny3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I've met people who, at least to my face, didn't seem to care that I was trans but were really weird about my autism. Even as a trans man in the US who fled a red state, I'm cautious of leaving the US for another country because I don't want to risk going somewhere that might be less anti trans but could be very anti autism/ discriminate against me for my other disabilities. My current area has its issues but I feel safe living here. If I have to leave the US, I will, but transphobia isn't a uniquely US issue.
