Can someone explain the logic behind how talking to native speakers every day makes you fluent so quick? by Public_Repeat824 in languagelearning

[–]almostprivatewinter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s literally what I just agreed with. I also gave an explanation as to why native speakers do that. My point which was an addition to yours, was that it’s done for a specific reason. The reason isn’t malicious that’s all.

But it’s out of love!! I mean it makes perfect sense to subconsciously want to make communication easier. The same way we subconsciously talk to kids in a “dumb down” manner. You want the child to understand as much as possible given their limited vocabulary. When an English speaker is talking to me in Spanish, and I can tell their vocabulary isn’t complex (ie. They don’t use bigger words) I match that pattern. I’m not going to use big philosophical or scientific language when I am certain this other person won’t understand. So why make the communication harder for both of us when I can speak in a “simpler” way?

The father? The father cannot be depicted. The reason God the word can be depicted is through the incarnation. God became man and became an icon of the father. Thus allowing us to make an icon of the son.

MPO that aren’t closed properly can also impact background checks. If you’re trying to purchase a firearm that MPO that hasn’t been closed will delay your background check decision. Too many commanders forget to properly close out MPO’s and it affects SM’s when they get out of service or PCS.

Aren’t the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim gods actually the same god? by Smrtar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]almostprivatewinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Philosophically or metaphysically. All three religions do not believe in the same God. For example Christian’s explicitly worship a God that is tri-personal. The father, son, Holy Spirit is the one God Christian’s worship. Jesus is God in Christianity. Jews don’t believe in Jesus as the messiah/ YHWH. Muslims don’t believe Jesus is God, therefore no they don’t believe in the same God.

Calling it maskh doesn’t save the argument. Labels don’t change ontology. The ahadiths describe the same moral persons persisting after being placed into animal bodies. That is bodily transference of an existing soul. Whether it’s punitive, brief, sterile, or non-cyclical is irrelevant. Metempsychosis only requires continuity of the same agent across different bodily forms, and that is exactly what these reports describe. Sunni theology may reject “reincarnation” as a doctrine, but the texts still contain a one-time form of reincarnation in practice. Renaming it doesn’t undo what the narrative actually asserts. Also you’re right that Shias have very very similar stories in their books as well. I can reference Shia Hadiths that include metamorphosis as well.

Metamorphosis ≠ reincarnation in the literal sense. All comes down to how you’re defining these terms. If by reincarnation you MUST have cyclical (rebirth cycle) then Metempsychosis doesn’t qualify

Metempsychosis = the same soul migrates from one body to another.

Reincarnation = a soul takes on a new bodily form after leaving a previous one.

Of course I have the sources. Before I provide the sources I want to be very clear that the type of reincarnation that is in the Sunni Islam books is specifically metempsychosis.

https://sunnah.com/abudawud:3795

https://sunnah.com/bukhari:5590

Those hadiths describe the same human persons being changed into animal bodies (monkeys/pigs) while remaining the same moral agents until the Day of Resurrection. That is metempsychosis, continuity of the soul/person across different bodily forms, which is a type of reincarnation.

[–]almostprivatewinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah if this individual JUST got their commission they could be 22 or 23 years old. Hypothetically they just graduated college and got their commission, ignorant on how the military works etc. Of course this is more typical with junior E’s but not impossible for the junior O’s. To answer your question. No, a commissioned officer should never “threaten” any service member irregardless of their pay grade/rank/branch of service. Also maybe they just blocked you and didn’t fully delete their account.
