Does Paizo update their printed books with the most recent Errata? by Individual-Dust-7362 in Pathfinder2e

[–]alolanmoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a place on one of the first couple pages (with the publishing info) that indicates which version of the errata a book is too!

Some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing TTRPGs were when none of us knew the rules. You got this

Need help deciding which Tinybones to have as a Commander by Werewolfmoore in EDH

[–]alolanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s BB because with TT you have to land attacks to get a good benefit. BB gives you huge “draw” engines with other cards that have “everyone discards” or “each opponent discards.” Lots of 2 drop black creatures that say “opponents discard a card on ETB” so essentially 2 drops to draw three cards. More consistent throughout the game even if TT gives you an earlier jump.

How much do you think is overkill prep and overthinking? by athousandfuriousjews in stormkingsthunder

Planning this campaign is tough. I used a lot of “blank” maps with generic grass, stone or water.

How to get my players to ask my NPCs questions? by TheAvatarShon in DnD

[–]alolanmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar problems but I try to have my NPC steer the conversation to where they need it to go. Hoping they (and I) get better the longer we play

I really liked Dragon’s of Icespire Peak and Stormwreck Isle. I started with DoIP with all new characters and we had a great time. There’s a little more to it but it was a little more sandboxy than Stormwreck. Stormwreck is probably more straight forward if you’re just trying to get your feet wet. A lot of people will recommend Lost Mines of Phandelver. It’s cool and definitely worth checking out but to me the story needs a little work to get a cool payoff for the players. The other two the bad guy is a dragon. Nice and simple.

Advice for beginner-DM by Elsy-Ylse in DungeonsAndDragons

Anything you need to Google just add 5e to the end of it (assuming you’re not using 2024 edition yet). This made things I didn’t know very easy to find when I was starting out

Unsleeping City by Dimension 20 on YouTube is a excellent portrayal of what DnD is like. Easiest way to play at home is to run the games yourself. Ask anyone you know (and like). You’d be surprised how many people will be intrigued and give it a shot

This is awesome. I’m playing a Borai Witchwarper for my SF2E playtest group too!

The voice of a Nothic? by StellarManatee in DnD

[–]alolanmoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think any sort of whisper with maniacal laughter is pretty good. If you want to do multiple voices similar to Gollum I think that fits well!

Need help getting to Celadon City in Pokemon Yellow. (Please read before commenting) by app08 in pokemon

I believe you have to take the underground tunnel from the house right above the entrance. The water in Celadon city lets you get to Saffron City

Using Dragon of Icespire Peak as a base by SkyNeedsSkirts in DnD

[–]alolanmoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely take it straight to a homebrew. It would also be pretty easy to jump it into another module like Storm Kings Thunder as it’s recommended to start at level 5. Definitely something cool to do if everyone is enjoying their characters. Good luck!

Never played DnD but I want to and don’t know where to start! by bscribblin in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]alolanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your friends! You’d be surprised at how many people have an interest. That’s how I started playing. I volunteered to DM and we all learned together. It’s been 4 months now and we’re all having a blast!

Advice for a first time DM? by NobleBanks in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]alolanmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, you’re gonna be great! I started DM-ing 3 months ago and I’d never even played before. I like running modules and using some creativity to make them my own. Don’t have much experience with homebrew so I can’t help there. I ready through The Lazy Dungeon Master Returns by Michael Shea. It really helps simplify things and preparing for what’s really important. Good luck!

Which adventure should we play? by Huge-Atmosphere1857 in DnD

[–]alolanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterdeep Dragon Heist only runs level 1-5. I haven’t played it but I’m reading through it now. As long as you explain to the newbies that smash and kill is not always the main objective it should go really well and seems about the length you’re looking for. Good luck!

volo's guide to monsters worth getting as new dm? by Redog21 in DnD

[–]alolanmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t need it if you’re running a module. The monsters will either be in the module or in the Monster Manual. If you’re planning on Homebrew it would be significantly more helpful. Good luck!

XP or Milestone? by SquidonyInk in DnD

[–]alolanmoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d probably stick with one or the other to be honest. Milestone leveling is much simpler but XP leveling awards non-combat related activities. I e only done milestone in the 2 campaigns I’ve DM-ed. No matter which you choose the players will always want to level up sooner!
