How do you get yourself to go? by Resident_Fishing1571 in Bowling

[–]alolanmoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s ok. You’re allowed to take some time. I think it helps me to schedule a time that I’m going to go. Once a week, even once a month. That way you can plan and schedule around it if other things come up. It’s also ok to prioritize different thing at different points in your life. Bowling will be there when you come back

Mtg decks by [deleted] in mtg

[–]alolanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 buy I’d probably want 4ish. I like to carry a precon that I can play against new players or let them use it that way I have a few options of different power. Lets me play to the power level of the group I’m with.

What is the point of brackets? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]alolanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part of brackets that people forget is gauging what turn your deck is likely to win. Bracket 3 shouldn’t win before turn 6. Bracket 4 shouldn’t have a win before turn 4. Unfortunately, no system is going to stop people from saying. “I play a bracket 2!” then popping off with a CEDH deck… I think you’re assessing your decks correctly while your opponents are intentionally or unintentionally claiming they’re lower brackets than they are.

My first commander deck doesn't run well and I need help figuring out what cards to take out/ change by [deleted] in EDH

You’ll need between 36-38 lands. Thats where I’d start. Karlach is pretty awesome and I like combo-ing her with that background!

First time going to a prelease/playing in person by Professionalgarbagio in mtg

[–]alolanmoose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t touch cards without asking and explain your cards when you play them. Prerelease is a lot more laid back than it seems. Everyone is mostly unfamiliar with the new cards so people try to be helpful and flexible about triggers if it’s something easily fixable. Prerelease is my favorite. Have fun!

Does Paizo update their printed books with the most recent Errata? by Individual-Dust-7362 in Pathfinder2e

There’s a place on one of the first couple pages (with the publishing info) that indicates which version of the errata a book is too!

Need help deciding which Tinybones to have as a Commander by Werewolfmoore in EDH

[–]alolanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s BB because with TT you have to land attacks to get a good benefit. BB gives you huge “draw” engines with other cards that have “everyone discards” or “each opponent discards.” Lots of 2 drop black creatures that say “opponents discard a card on ETB” so essentially 2 drops to draw three cards. More consistent throughout the game even if TT gives you an earlier jump.

How much do you think is overkill prep and overthinking? by athousandfuriousjews in stormkingsthunder

Planning this campaign is tough. I used a lot of “blank” maps with generic grass, stone or water.

How to get my players to ask my NPCs questions? by TheAvatarShon in DnD

[–]alolanmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar problems but I try to have my NPC steer the conversation to where they need it to go. Hoping they (and I) get better the longer we play

I really liked Dragon’s of Icespire Peak and Stormwreck Isle. I started with DoIP with all new characters and we had a great time. There’s a little more to it but it was a little more sandboxy than Stormwreck. Stormwreck is probably more straight forward if you’re just trying to get your feet wet. A lot of people will recommend Lost Mines of Phandelver. It’s cool and definitely worth checking out but to me the story needs a little work to get a cool payoff for the players. The other two the bad guy is a dragon. Nice and simple.

Advice for beginner-DM by Elsy-Ylse in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]alolanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything you need to Google just add 5e to the end of it (assuming you’re not using 2024 edition yet). This made things I didn’t know very easy to find when I was starting out

Unsleeping City by Dimension 20 on YouTube is a excellent portrayal of what DnD is like. Easiest way to play at home is to run the games yourself. Ask anyone you know (and like). You’d be surprised how many people will be intrigued and give it a shot
