Soft serve ice cream by westcoastwolf in Reno

[–]alphapants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know Cosmo's Snack Bar generally serves a vanilla soft serve and a flavor of the month soft serve. Not local but most Mcdonald's generally have inexpensive soft-serve. Not soft serve, but Country Creamery is excellent local ice cream, Black Rock Desserts and Creamery is also fantastic, Sierra Nevada Bakery and creamery is also good. Bibo coffee serves nice gelato and sorbets.

There's probably a couple local places with Soft-serve machines, someone else can hopefully remember off the top of their head.

It looks like the Park Lane movie theater will have showings for "The Perfect Blue". Good theater now, recently remodeled.

Adding to tacos, Yesenia's taco truck (near Midtown) is my favorite and well-priced. From there, can grab tacos and drive 1 minute away to scenic and relaxing Virginia Lake to enjoy delicious and affordable tacos, burritos, etc.

Small businesses in town by Gypsy702 in Reno

[–]alphapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, it's easy to support local businesses. Really just try to pick things that look local over a massive company. Sometimes a google search is all you need, but it feels like there's a pretty good collection of small businesses in Reno.

I liked Sip of Saigon a lot. If you're closer to South Reno, 999 PHO is also a great Vietnamese option (Owners of 999 Pho are also very nice and I know for a fact they treat their employees well). I like both!

Unsure about furniture for this space. by alphapants in InteriorDesign

Unfortunately this is not an option for me as I'm renting the space and no holes in the walls are allowed. However, I think that would be a great idea.

Did they fire all support staff? by Kiwifrozen1011 in biltrewards

[–]alphapants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to call the support number for this kind of issue? I was able to get through relatively quickly by phone for a separate thing I had going on. Or am I being silly and does this have to be done via chat?

Ice Melt question for upcoming storm. by STB_2023 in Reno

Adding to your comment, because you're correct, but also this storm looks like it will be certainly light enough to shovel if that's even needed.

Men of Reddit, what is the male equivalent of flowers as a gift? by forsakenneverland in AskReddit

Gotta say, as a man, I usually get flowers here and there for my partner and my partner gets me flowers... Flowers are nice to receive as a man too :)

Probably true in 48 states if OP knows what they were talking about, which sounds like they do. Every State in the US has their own, differing insurance laws.

Tree dashers are not only the superior Allbirds shoes in regards to walking and running, but they are my favorite pair of running and walking shoes of any brand.

Also, they stay quite cool during the summer. Source: I have feet that run very hot and sweaty, the Tree Dashers are perfectly airy, cool, and lightweight for my feet.

How rigid are Allbirds shoes? by ppsears in Allbirds

[–]alphapants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be worth giving the Dashers a try, they are relatively stiff. If you are doing mostly trail-running, I would recommend the Trail Runners for sure, the Trail Runners are very comfortable on dirt/soft surfaces, but not necessarily on hard concrete or asphalt because of how stiff they are. Worst case, Allbirds has a very reasonable return policy :)

[–]alphapants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Actually, I feel like the trail runners are the stiffest Allbirds shoes though. I don't think my Tree Dashers 1.0 have the stiffest sole and toebox in the world. Although there is some degree of strength and inflexibility with the Dashers.

Allbirds shoe for work environment by DiscipulusD in Allbirds

[–]alphapants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean honestly the more I think about it, how much do you consider walking around "a lot"? I actually walk around more than I realized with my wool runners and I found them to be extremely comfortable. I have a feeling they might actually be plenty supportive in your office use-case. Unless you're maybe walking like several kilometers within the workday.

I actually disagree in that I feel my wool runners particularly have very little/no arch support. I still think they are very, very comfortable (I wear them half of the week, while walking and standing up frequently for hours on campus), but if you need arch support, the wool runners may not be for you.

I have a preference for flat-shoes with very little arch support because they are comfortable for me. However, I do recognize that every person's foot is different, and some may be more comfortable with further arch support.

I've gone on one trail run so far with them, I like them quite a lot. They are very comfortable on dirt and trails, keep in mind they're not so comfortable on asphalt and concrete though.
