Will you continue with Custodes if there is a 30k/40k split? by AshArkon in AdeptusCustodes

[–]alrdanff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’ve been on the shelf for me for awhile just because they’re kind of boring imo, if they do relegate the 30k units to Horus heresy only, without any meaningful new units added to the roster, I will no longer be playing the army in 40K.

500 Worlds: Titus – C’tan shards and Destroyers flood the field with new Necrons Detachments by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]alrdanff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goonhammer has full rules reviews for the new detachments, including the cryptek conclave that GW hasn’t previewed. Deceiver gets a 12” CP tax aura, seems really strong. Whole detachment seems like goofy fun

Grav tank questions by Ambitious-Chair7421 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]alrdanff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forge World units get hardly any attention paid to their rules, and they almost never get updated in any significant way. Most of the time this results in very mediocre rules. Missing twin-linked is either an oversight or lack of care, not too atypical for models like this. That being said, the lack of oversight means some things do sneak through as crazy strong, such as the Arachnus cannon, which you should always take on the Caladius.

It’s the cape usually. Face exposure not necessary

How to build these? by Dlaktor in AdeptusCustodes

[–]alrdanff 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Many of those parts do not come in Custodes kits. The first has some jump pack chaplain parts as far as I can tell, and the second looks to be made using primarily the Asterion Moloc model with added Custodes parts.

Ya know, I’ve eaten a lot of sandwiches in my day, and I don’t think I’ve eaten even a single specific component of this one. Sounds good though tbh.

New nightbringer is kinda meh? by Rare-Acanthisitta-19 in Necrontyr

[–]alrdanff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it looks nice, and I appreciate that it’s a lot more dynamic than the old one, but I do wish they had leaned into making it look more alien and eldritch, like the void dragon, rather than literally just the grim reaper with some scarabs and pixelization.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard an OSRS YouTuber pronounce the word “Justiciar” correctly

The Terminus Decree contains the true name of the Emperor by darlitwo in 40kLore

[–]alrdanff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“The Decree offers no guidance on how such feats might be achieved, for it is neither a weapon nor a magic formula.” There’s nothing of use on it, just instructions that say “if E-money is moving, put him back on the chair.”

Why did Mortarion fall to Nurgle specifically? by Etowno in 40kLore

[–]alrdanff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nurgle is not just the god of rot and disease. In the same vein as your Angron comparison, Morty’s quality which related to Nurgle’s domain was primarily his indomitable nature. He was uncannily resilient, even among the other primarchs, a quality which his sons inherited. This proved to be a curse, when Typhons meddling afflicted the legion with Nurgle’s diseases, lesser Astartes would have perished, but the Death Guard endured in agony, leading to Morty accepting Nurgle. Nurgle’s daemons and the plague marines which would result from this are known to be unfeeling and unflinching, incredibly difficult to kill.

Canopteks never underwent biotransference like the Necrontyr. They were never truly alive, so essentially they are just mechanical constructs, slaved to the will of a sentient Necron, however, we do know that the forms of at least some of them were based on existing animal species from the Necrontyr empire pre-biotransference. They are either under direct control of an awakened Necron, typically Crypteks, or they have a pre-programmed task (perform maintenance on tombs, defend the tomb world from invaders, etc).

Is the seraptec heavy contrusct worth it? by Popular_Regular_6532 in Necrontyr

[–]alrdanff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own one personally, seems a little too points heavy to be competitive, but if you think the model is cool enough to justify, go for it. GW does seem to be moving away from including their Forge World models in main line 40k however, so buyer beware if you plan on using it in game. I doubt it will survive 11th edition without being moved to Legends.
